ROLL CALL Present: 6 - Mayor Dontae Payne, Mayor Pro Tem Yến Huỳnh, Councilmember Jim Cooper, Councilmember Clark Gilman, Councilmember Dani Madrone and Councilmember Robert Vanderpool 2. BUSINESS ITEMS 2.A 25-0043 Overview of Ranked Choice Voting Process for the Purpose of Appointing a Councilmember to Fill the Unexpired Term of Position #5 Election Technician Jack Mongin presented an overview of ranked choice voting. Councilmembers asked clarifying questions. The information was provided. 2.B 25-0046 Interview Candidates, Conduct a Ranked Choice Voting Process and Appoint a Councilmember to Fill the Unexpired Term of Position #5 Councilmembers discussed the questions that will used the for the interviews. Councilmember Madrone moved, seconded by Mayor Pro Tem Huỳnh, to approve the questions to ask the candidates. The motion carried by the following vote: Aye: 6 - Mayor Payne, Mayor Pro Tem Huỳnh, Councilmember Cooper, Councilmember Gilman, Councilmember Madrone and Councilmember Vanderpool Mr. Mongin explained the voting process and handed out ballots. Councilmembers filled out the ballots and once completed Mr. Mongin tallied the votes. Councilmember Cooper moved, seconded by Councilmember Madrone, to appoint Kelly Green to Olympia City Council position #5. EXECUTIVE SESSION 3.A 25-0047 Executive Session Pursuant to RCW 42.30.110(1)(h) - Evaluate the Qualifications of Candidate for Appointment to Elective Office Mayor Payne recessed the meeting at 8:20 p.m. He asked the Council to reconvene in 5 minutes for an Executive Session pursuant to RCW 42.30.110(1)(h) to discuss evaluating the qualifications of candidates for appointment to elective office. He announced no decisions would be made, the meeting was expected to last no longer than 45 minutes, and the Council would adjourn immediately following the Executive Session. The Executive Session adjourned at 9:22 p.m.The City Attorney was present at the Executive Session. The executive session was held and no decisions were made. 4.
