CALL TO ORDER Chair Villegas Bremer called the meeting to order at 8:30 a.m. 1.A ROLL CALL Present: 3 - Chair Linda Villegas Bremer, Commissioner Reiko Callner and Commissioner Oscar Soule OTHERS PRESENT Human Resources Director/Chief Examiner Linnaea Jablonski Senior Human Resources Analyst Nicole Camus Fire Battalion Chief Greg Rightmier 2. APPROVAL OF AGENDA The agenda was approved. 3. PUBLIC COMMENT - NONE 4. ANNOUNCEMENTS Ms. Jablonski announced Human Resources has appointed Olivia Salazar De Breaux as the Inclusion and Equity Coordinator. Her work will be both within the organization and the community. 5. BUSINESS ITEMS 5.A 20-0489 Approval of March 18, 2020 Civil Service Commission Meeting Minutes The minutes were approved. 5.B 20-0490 Approval of May 19, 2020 Civil Service Commission Meeting Minutes The minutes were approved. City of Olympia Page 1 Civil Service Commission Meeting Minutes June 16, 2020 5.C 20-0491 Approval of Promotional Captain - Medical Services Officer Register Mr. Rightmier explained the position will fill a vital role in the department as a leader in emergency medicine. He explained the process was administered by Public Safety Selection through a Supervisory Skills Assessment. Five dimensions were evaluated: critical thinking, judgment, oral communication, decision making, and delegation and control. Two candidates completed the assessment and are on the register. Commissioner Soule moved, seconded by Commissioner Callner, to approve the promotional register for Captain - Medical Services Officer. The motion carried by the following vote: Aye: 3 - Chair Villegas Bremer, Commissioner Callner and Commissioner Soule 5.D 20-0492 Removal of Name from Entry Level Police Officer Register Commissioner Callner expressed appreciation to Sgt. Duncan and the Department for their work conducting background investigations. She encouraged the department to publicize the amount of effort that goes into screening of applicants in the Department. The information was received. 6. REPORTS Ms. Camus reported Keith Stahley has been appointed to Assistant City Manager and Leonard Bauer has been appointed to Community Planning and Development Director. 7. OTHER TOPICS - NONE 8.
