CALL TO ORDER Chair LaValle called the meeting to order at 6:32 p.m. 1.A ROLL CALL Present: 6 - Chair Joseph S LaValle, Boardmember Duane Edwards, Boardmember/Architect Robert Findlay, Boardmember/Architect Thomas Carver, Boardmember Jami Heinricher and Boardmember Angea Rush Excused: 2 - Vice Chair Jane Laclergue and Boardmember Marnie McGrath OTHERS PRESENT Associate Planner Catherine McCoy Deputy Director Leonard Bauer 2. BUSINESS ITEMS 2.A 18-0699 Design Review Board Annual Elections Boardmembers had a brief discussion regarding officer interest and nominations. Boardmember Findlay moved, seconded by Chair LaValle, to elect Jami Heinricher Chair of the Design Review Board, and reinstate Vice Chair Jane Laclergue. The motion carried by the following vote: Aye: 6 - Chair LaValle, Boardmember Edwards, Boardmember/Architect Findlay, Boardmember/Architect Carver, Boardmember Heinricher and Boardmember Rush Excused: 2 - Vice Chair Laclergue and Boardmember McGrath 2.B 18-0703 Digital Design Review Beginning September 1, 2018, all City advisory boards and committees will either be reviewing digital packet materials entirely, or moving in that direction. After a lengthy discussion regarding various options for reviewing architectural packets, Boardmembers opted to begin to review most elements of the packets digitally including the staff report, City of Olympia Page 1 Design Review Board Meeting Minutes July 26, 2018 staff's design review analysis/checklist, and detail sheets for site elements such as lighting and pedestrian amenities, but will continue to receive hardcopy architectural drawings although limited to critical sheets they can mark and edit prior to the meeting. Hardcopy packets will include the following sheets: 1) the Site Plan, 2) the Landscape Plan, 3) Elevations (black and white and colored), 4) Floor Plans, 5) the Grading Plan, and 6) the Utility Plan. The discussion was completed. 2.C 18-0704 Design Review Board Annual Retreat, 2018 Boardmembers considered a number of dates for the 2018 Design Review Board Retreat, balancing summer absences and extended leave. Board members decided on December 6, the last regularly held DRB meeting of the year, from 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. The location of the meeting and an agenda will be "under construction" between now and the end of the year.
