CALL TO ORDER Chair LaValle called the meeting to order at 6:34 p.m. 2. ROLL CALL Present: 5 - Chair Joseph S LaValle, Boardmember Roussa Cassel, Boardmember Ingrid Gulden, Boardmember Bassim Kreem and Boardmember Virginia Sorrells Excused: 1 - Boardmember Angela Rush STAFF PRESENT Staff Liaison/Associate Planner Catherine McCoy 3. ANNOUNCEMENTS - None 4. BUSINESS ITEMS 4.A 21-1123 Design Review Board Work Session Presenter(s): Chair LaValle shared photos of development projects the Board reviewed between 2016-2019 that have been constructed and are now occupied - from concept to completion. The projects consisted of a variety of development types from new residential, new commercial, new mixed-use residential and commercial, to educational facilities. Boardmembers discussed every project, then identified their top choices in each field. After three rounds of voting, the Board will recommend three projects to the City Council for approval. Handout(s): Chair LaValle shared a Powerpoint presentation w/photos of development projects reviewed by the Board between 2016-2019. He asked Boardmembers to use a ballot he developed as a checklist to mark their choices on close to two dozen development proposals. Boardmembers concurred on three projects for nomination to City Council at an upcoming Council public meeting, to be determined. City of Olympia Page 1 Design Review Board Meeting Minutes November 18, 2021 Annual Retreat: Boardmembers discussed dates for a retreat, location, timing, and topics for the agenda. The date is tentatively set for January 8, 2022; the location tentatively set for City Hall. Handout(s): 1) PowerPoint Presentation, 2) Voting Ballot The study session was completed. 5. OTHER TOPICS Staff shared project proposals coming up on the DRB schedule. There will be two project reviews on December 9, 2021, the last DRB meeting of the year.
