CALL TO ORDER Chair Miller called the meeting to order at 12:12 p.m. 2. ROLL CALL Present: 3 - Chair Kat Kelly, Commissioner Garner Miller and Commissioner Sheila Swalling Excused: 2 - Commissioner Dwayne Harkness and Commissioner Benjamin Helle 3. BUSINESS ITEMS 3.A 19-0120 BUILDING PERMIT APPLICATION REVIEW (Project #19-0183) 1203 Olympia Ave NE Chair Miller introduced the topic. Commissioners offered thoughts following review of the materials and additional information received since previous review of this request. They agreed that the following factors are significant in weighing the historic value of the garage structure: - The garage was not mentioned in the property description when the property was listed within the district designation. - The home that is the primary structure on the property has lost integrity due to the alterations that have been made to it, including the replacement of historic windows. - The garage is very much an accessory to the primary structure. Chair Miller moved, seconded by Commissioner Swalling, that demolition of the garage structure at 1203 Olympia Ave NE be approved based on the following: - The accessory structure is not a significant contributor to the historic character of the property or the neighborhood, despite its individual integrity and compatibility with the primary structure; and - The garage is not included in the property description included in the approved Olympia Avenue Historic District.
