CALL TO ORDER Vice Chair Miller called the meeting to order at 6:00 p.m. 1.A ROLL CALL Present: 6 - Vice Chair Garner Miller, Commissioner Stephen Becker, Commissioner William Cotter, Commissioner Stacy Hicks, Commissioner Melissa Patrick and Commissioner Gary Stedman Absent: 2 - Commissioner Audrey Henley and Commissioner Eleanor Knight 1.B OTHERS PRESENT Principal Planner Nicole Floyd Department of Archaeology Michelle Thompson 2. APPROVAL OF AGENDA The agenda was approved. 3. APPROVAL OF MINUTES 3.A 24-0550 Approval of the May 22, 2024 Heritage Commission Meeting Minutes An amendment was made to account for Kellie Purce Braseth and Yen Huỳnh's attendance and discussion. The minutes were approved as amended. 4. PUBLIC COMMENT - None 5. ANNOUNCEMENTS Ms. Floyd provided announcements regarding the Historic Preservation Officer recruitment and provided a tutorial on the tools available on the City website. 6. BUSINESS ITEMS 6.A 24-0551 Presentation from Department of Historic and Archaeologic Preservation City of Olympia Page 1 Heritage Commission Meeting Minutes June 26, 2024 (DAHP) Ms. Thompson provided a presentation about Historic Preservation and the Certified Local Government program. The information was provided. 6.B 24-0552 Elections Officer elections were held. Commissioner Hicks moved, seconded by Commissioner Steadman, to nominate Garner Miller as Chair. The motion passed unanimously. Commissioner Patrick moved, seconded by Commissioner Becker, to nominate Stacy Hicks as Vice Chair. The motion passed unanimously. Commissioner Hicks moved, seconded by Commissioner Cotter, to change the start time of meetings to 5:30 p.m. The motion passed unanimously. 6.C 24-0553 Charles Mitchell, National Underground Railroad Network Commissioners were provided with information about the Charles Mitchell National Underground Railroad Network.
