CALL TO ORDER The meeting was called to order at 5:30 p.m. 1.A ROLL CALL Present: 5 - Chair Jim Cooper, Vice Chair Jeannine Roe, Boardmember Russ Gies, Boardmember Caleb Martin, and Boardmember Jack Seward 2. APPROVAL OF MINUTES 2.A 14-1082 Approval of October 13, 2014 LEOFF Disability Board Meeting Minutes Boardmember Seward moved, seconded by Boardmember Martin, to approve the minutes. The motion carried by the following vote: Aye: 5 - Chair Cooper, Vice Chair Roe, Boardmember Gies, Boardmember Martin and Boardmember Seward 3. BUSINESS ITEMS 3.A 14-1085 Case #09-14 Medical Reimbursement Request Boardmember Seward moved, seconded by Vice Chair Roe, to deny the request for medical reimbursement. The reason for denial was because insurance would have paid for the procedure if the LEOFF member had sought treatment in the U.S. rather than outside the country. The motion carried by the following vote: Aye: 5 - Chair Cooper, Vice Chair Roe, Boardmember Gies, Boardmember Martin and Boardmember Seward 3.B 14-1086 Administering Vision Care Requests Staff asked for direction regarding how to reimburse members for vision benefits under the MedAdvantage plan. The Board unanimously agreed that members under MedAdvantage must first apply for the $200 benefit for hardware and then submit receipts and proof of benefit paid to seek reimbursement for any remaining additional amount every other year according to the LEOFF policies and procedures. City of Olympia Page 1 LEOFF I Disability Board Meeting Minutes November 10, 2014 3.C 14-1083 Med Plus Hearing Aid Provider Boardmember Seward is a LEOFF 1 member who is due for new hearing aid replacement because they are more than five years old. He volunteered to work with the LEOFF Board liaison to obtain new hearing aids through a Med Plus hearing aid provider and report back his experience to the other Boardmembers. This feedback will help the board determine whether Med Plus might be a possible good plan to implement in the future for the other LEOFF 1 members covered under the Med Advantage insurance plan. After discussion, the Board asked staff to do a little more research on the Med Plus hearing plan. 4. ADJOURNMENT The meeting adjourned at 6:25 p.m. City of Olympia Page 2
