CALL TO ORDER Chair Cooper called the meeting to order at 5:30 p.m. 2. ROLL CALL Present: 5 - Chair Jim Cooper, Vice Chair Jessica Bateman, Boardmember Jack Seward, Boardmember Caleb Martin and Boardmember Russ Gies 2.A. OTHERS PRESENT Assistant City Manager Jay Burney Human Resources Director Joe Olson Personnel Analyst Carl Watts 3. APPROVAL OF MINUTES 3.A 17-1167 Approval of September 11, 2017 of LEOFF Disability Board Meeting Minutes The minutes were approved. 4. BUSINESS ITEMS 4.A 17-1168 Case #14-17 Dental Request Vice Chair Bateman moved, seconded by Boardmember Seward, to approve Case #14-17 for three (3) dental cleanings per year and payment in the amount of $252.70 for dental treatment. The motion was approved unanimously. 4.B 17-1174 Case #15-17 Dental Request Vice Chair Bateman moved, seconded by Boardmember Martin, to approve Case #15-17 for dental work in the amount of $597. The motion was approved unanimously. 4.C 17-1173 LEOFF Application Procedure Language Change Boardmember Martin moved, seconded by Boardmember Seward, to approve City of Olympia Page 1 LEOFF I Disability Board Meeting Minutes November 13, 2017 a change in language to the LEOFF Disability Board Policies and Procedures so the Board can approve requests not submitted in advance. The approved language will now state, "if warranted by the facts, the Board may pay for services that have not come to the Board for prior approval. The Board retains the sole right to determine whether or not to pay for services if the service has not been brought to the Board for prior approval." This will be added to the LEOFF Disability Board Policies and Procedures medical services, hearing aids and dental benefits sections. The motion was approved unanimously. 4.D. 17-1181 LEOFF I Firefighter Insurance Boardmember Seward brought up issues and concerns about the new LEOFF 1 Firefighter insurance. Their insurance changed due to the newly negotiated IAFF Firefighter contract. Mr. Burney provided history and explained the thought process behind the decision to change insurance for the LEOFF 1 Firefighter members. The discussion was completed. 5. REPORTS 5.A 17-1175 Expense Report for September 2017 The report was received. 6. ADJOURNMENT The meeting was adjourned at 6:30 p.m. City of Olympia Page 2
