1. CALL TO ORDER
Chair Hankins called the meeting to order at 2:30 p.m.

Present: 5 - Chair Julie Hankins, Committee Member Nathan Allan, Committee
Member Russell Carstensen, Committee Member Jack Kiley, and
Committee Member Greg Taylor
2. APPROVAL OF AGENDA
The agenda was approved as published.

6.A 14-0761 Required Open Government Training
Communications Manager Cathie Butler presented a training prepared by the State
Attorney General’s Office on Open Public Meetings and Open Public Records. Mr.
Allan declared he also viewed the June 4, 2014 Open Government training video
online that was conducted at the Washington Center for the Performing Arts. Ms.
Butler indicated this training is now required by State law for current and newly
appointed officials.
The information was received.
6.B 14-0762 2015 Lodging Tax Proposal Process
Committee members reviewed the 2014 application packet and agreed to use the
same format for 2015. They also reviewed information about lodging tax receipts to
date. Several Committee members commented that revenue seems to be returning to
a positive state, with possibly a small increase this year.

Committee members agreed to the following 2015 dates:
· Application deadline: Wednesday, September 24
· Committee meeting to review applications: Friday, October 3, 3:00 p.m., Olympia
City Hall
Ms. Hankins will present the Committee’s recommendations at the Council’s meeting
on Monday, November 3. The Council’s public hearing on the 2015 proposed budget,
including lodging tax, is scheduled for Tuesday, November 18.
The Committee's recommendations will be considered by the City Council as
part of the 2015 Budget deliberations.
