CALL TO ORDER Interim Chair Adney called the meeting to order at 9:30 a.m. 1.A ROLL CALL Present: 11 - Interim Chair Ken Adney, Boardmember Sarah Adams, Boardmember Mary Corso, Boardmember Janis Dean, Boardmember David Rauh, Boardmember Cynthia Collins, Boardmember Bobbi Kerr, Boardmember Connie Phegley, Boardmember Phil Rollins, Boardmember Jeffrey Trinin, and Boardmember Sunday Williams Excused: 1 - Boardmember Ruthann Goularte 2. PBIA PRESENTATION Downtown Liaison Brian Wilson presented information about the City of Olympia's progress regarding the Downtown Project 3. Mr. Wilson also discussed the history of the PBIA and reviewed the 2014 budget. 3. COMMITTEE PLANNING SESSION Committees split into groups to strategize 2014 work plans, goals, and timelines. 5. COMMITTEE REPORTS Partnership Committee: Boardmember Corso reported on the Partnership Committee discussion. Topics included: * Organize annual meeting for June and focus on sharing information about the 2014 projects/workplans with the ratepayers. In addition, work on updating bylaws before the annual meeting. * Respond to the ratepayers who filled out the ratepayer survey. * Create quarterly reports to send out to the ratepayers containing information about the budget and progress on 2014 projects. * Work on leveraging resources with the ODA and improving the board -to-board relationship. Vice Chair Adams reported on the Clean & Safe Committee discussion. Topics included: * Butt-er-flies campaign. Clean & Safe will purchase several cigarette butt containers and have local artists paint designs on them. They will be located at locations that accumulate a high-amount of cigarette butts. In addition, there will be a poster & informational flyer campaign. * The Committee will approach the City about concerns regarding the Artesian Commons design. The Committee intends to pass on a representative business voice to City Staff regarding the future of the public space. * The Committee will continue to approach the bar/tavern community and work on safety issues. Future meetings are planned which invites downtown stake holders and business owners. Boardmember Dean reported on the Marketing Committee discussion. Topics included: * The Committee will work on creating a fresh marketing campaign. Boardmember Williams will work on a marketing package to present to the Committee. * The Committee will also work on organizing a marketing event for rate payers to City of Olympia Page 2 PBIA Advisory Board Meeting Minutes March 30, 2014 learn more about the itsyourolympia.com website, local marketing opportunities, and social media integration. 6. NOMINATION OF 2014 BOARD CHAIR Boardmember Dean nominated Boardmember Corso to be 2014 Board Chair. The Board unanimously approved the nomination by a voice vote. NOMINATION OF 2014 BOARD CHAIR Boardmember Corso nominated Vice Chair Adams to be 2014 Vice Chair. The Board unanimously approved the nomination by a voice vote. 9.
