APPROVAL OF AGENDA The agenda was approved. 3. APPROVAL OF MINUTES 23-0473 Approval of April 24, 2023 Social Justice and Equity Commission Meeting Minutes The minutes were approved. 4. PUBLIC COMMENT - NONE 5. ANNOUNCEMENTS Diversity, Equity and Inclusion Program Manager Tobi Hill-Meyer gave the following announcements: · The City is painting a transgender flag style crosswalk at the intersection of 5th Ave and Washington Street in downtown Olympia. On June 3 at 1:00 p.m the City will host a ceremony to commemorate the crosswalk.Commissioners are welcome to attend. · The City’s Olympia Strong program is hosting public feedback sessions virtually on June 12 and in person on June 14. BUSINESS ITEMS 23-0472 Discrimination Assessment Update Truclusion consultants presented on the timeline for the Community Discrimination Assessment. The survey will launch on June 14 and stay live until July 14 with data collection completed by mid-August. Consultants asked Commissioners to help promote the survey. Commissioners provided recommendations for community partners that Truclusion can work with to maximize participation of the survey. The discussion was completed. 23-0469 Discuss the Social Justice and Equity Commission’s May 27 Retreat Agenda SDM Consulting CEO Sam Martin explained the agenda for the May 27 Social Justice Equity Commission Retreat. Commissioners asked clarifying questions and shared their interest in learning about other municipalities police oversight programs. The discussion was completed. 23-0470 Discussion of the Social Justice and Equity Commission’s Comments Regarding the Draft 2022 Police Auditor Annual Report Assistant City Manager Debbie Sullivan presented the Commissioners feedback of the Police Auditor's report. Assistant City Manager Sullivan shared that Councilmembers are requesting Commissioners attend the City Council meeting on June 6 to provide their comments. Co-Chair Chan and Co-Chair Parfait agreed to attend. The discussion was completed. 7. REPORTS - NONE 8. OTHER TOPICS - NONE 9.
