Stat. § 19.84, notice is hereby given to the public that the following meeting will be held: Meeting: Diversity, Equity, & Inclusion (DEI) Committee Date: Tuesday, February 6, 2024 Location: Fireside Room, People’s United Methodist Church Time: 6:30 PM f Note: Any person who has a qualifying disability as defined by the Americans with Disabilities Act that requires the meeting or materials at the meeting to be in an accessible location or format must contact the Village Clerk at (608) 835-3118, 101 Alpine Parkway, Oregon, Wisconsin, at least twenty-four (24) hours prior to the commencement of the meeting so that any necessary arrangements can be made to accommodate each request. MEETING MINUTES 1) Call to Order. The meeting was called to order at 6:30 p.m. The student members were introduced and welcomed. 2) Roll Call. Present: Sedona Afeworki (student), Lori Anderson, Carlene Bechen, Dan Dick, Luis Loya, and Karen Ramirez (student). Also present: Village Trustee Tim Higgins. 3) Approval of January 9, 2024 Committee meeting minutes. The minutes from January 9, 2024 were approved. 4) Business (items are for discussion and / or potential action). a) Reading to focus Committee’s attention on work. The committee read the “I’m at the prayer before the prayer to forgive” from The Book of Forgiving, Desmund & Mpho Tutu. There was a general discussion acknowledging hurt and looking for healing. b) Discuss ways to implement ideas generated from January meeting (see meeting minutes from January 9, 2024 provided in packet of information.) There was a general discussion about community gatherings where people could share diverse perspectives. They discussed the School Resource Officer (SRO) and how it correlates to bullying and the war that is happening on diversity, equity, and inclusion efforts throughout Wisconsin. c) Discuss 2024 goals and outcomes for committee (see meeting minutes from January 9, 2024 provided in the packet of information.) Page 1 of 2 Approved 03/07/2024  There was a general discussion about building a framework for further discussions and gatherings in the community. The members encouraged each other to think about the following items for the next meeting. • What conversations do we need to have? • Who should we invite to these conversations? • What topics and / or questions should be asked? • What are the desired outcomes? d) Future agenda items There were none. 5) Adjournment.
