Agenda

ORLEANS, IOWA NOTICE OF PUBLIC MEETING - COMPREHENSIVE LAND USE PLANNING TO: All Residents and in Orleans There will be a public meeting of the Orlean’s Planning and Zoning Commission at 6:30 p.m. on June 17, 2026, at the Orleans City Hall 13880 253rd Avenue. All residents and representatives of community or city organizations are encouraged to attend. The purpose of this meeting is for public participation and input toward the development of the Orleans 2026 Comprehensive Land Use Plan. A comprehensive plan is a document that serves as a guide for long-term growth and development of the City. Chapter 414.3 Code of Iowa states that zoning shall be made in accordance with a comprehensive plan. It is important that the City of Orleans obtains public input on this matter, as the new plan will help guide zoning and land use policies, goals and development decisions for the next 10-20 years. The primary responsibility for preparation of the comprehensive land use plan belongs to the Orlean’s Planning and Zoning Commission. However, for such a plan to reflect the best interests of the entire city, and to ensure citizens' priorities are built into the process, the Planning & Zoning Commission needs input from the public. Participants at this meeting will be invited to assess the City and to assist in the development of a vision of where Orleans should be directed into the future. If you have questions please contact Kay Cmelik, City Clerk at 712-336-8156 or Darren Bumgarner with Northwest Iowa Planning & Development Commission at 712-262-7225 ext. 143.
