Study Session Minutes Ottawa, Kansas Minutes of June 19, 2023 The Governing Body met at 4:00 pm this date at City Hall with the following members present and participating to wit: Mayor Crowley, Mayor Pro Tem Skidmore, Commissioner Caylor, Commissioner Graves and Commissioner Clayton. A quorum was present. Mayor Crowley called the meeting to order. Public Comments None were given. Minutes to Review The Governing Body reviewed minutes from the June 12, 2023 Study Session. The Governing Body agreed by consensus to place this item on the next Regular Meeting agenda on June 21, 2023. 2022 Audited Financial Statement The Governing Body heard from Sean Gordon, Gordon CPA, and Assistant Finance Director Rebekah McCurdy, who reviewed the 2022 financial audit report and stated that the City received an unmodified opinion, the highest opinion that can be received. No significant deficiencies or weaknesses were noted, and no issues with compliance with laws and regulations were noted in this audit. After some discussion, the Governing Body agreed by consensus to place this on the next regular meeting agenda on June 21, 2023. City Manager's Comments City Manager Brian Silcott updated the Governing Body on current projects. Commissioner's Comments Commissioner Caylor stated that a citizen had reached out to commend the Parks Department for the excellent condition of Kanza Park. Commissioner Clayton thanked the Police Department for the recent top 20 safest cities in Kansas designation. Commissioner Clayton also congratulated Ottawa Memorial Auditorium for the recent Taps and Tunes event. Mayor Pro Tem Skidmore also commended the Police Department for their hard work. Mayor's Comments Mayor Crowley had no comment.
