PROCEEDINGS OF THE SPECIAL MEETING OF THE OXFORD VILLAGE BOARD MARQUETTE COUNTY, WISCONSIN August 28, 2023 The Village Board of the Village of Oxford, Marquette County, Wisconsin met on Monday, August 28, 2023 in the Council Room of the Oxford Village Hall. President Meyer called the meeting to order at 3:30 PM with the following board members present: Trustees Drinkwater, Rozek, Sorensen, Bohringer, and Zacharias. Also in attendance were Clerk-Treasurer Amy Maier and John Blader. Not in attendance was Trustee O’Brien. Motion made by Rozek/Sorensen to approve the agenda as printed. Motion carried. President Meyer announced that, per the agenda, a closed session, per Wis. Stat. § 19.85 (1)(e), is proposed for deliberating or negotiating the purchasing of public properties, the investing of public funds, or conducting other specified public business, whenever competitive or bargaining reasons require a closed session. Motion made by Sorensen/Rozek to move to closed session pursuant to Wis. Motion carried on a roll call vote with all present voting aye. The closed session per Wis. Stat. § 19.85 (1)(e) began at 3:37 PM in order to conduct interviews with potential candidates for the Office of Village Assessor. Per the agenda, the Board reconvened into open session at 4:54 PM. A discussion ensued regarding a possible selection between the potential candidates for the Office of Village Assessor. Motion made by Zacharias/Drinkwater to table the hiring of the assessor until additional information is obtained and for the matter to be addressed at the next available board meeting. Motion carried. President Meyer informed the Board that maintenance has been performed on a broken tree that posed to be a potential safety hazard and was located in the alley off of W. Wood St. The tree in question was located on the property line between the alley and an adjacent property owner. The Village Public Works Department has resolved the concern by removing the tree. Motion made by Rozek/Drinkwater to adjourn at 5:03 PM. Franklin Ave. The closed session of the Village of Oxford Board, pursuant to Wis. Stat. § 19.85 (1)(e), began at 3:37 PM. In attendance were President Meyer and Trustees Drinkwater, Rozek, Sorensen, Bohringer, and Zacharias. Also in attendance were Clerk-Treasurer Shannon McMullin, Deputy Clerk-Treasurer Amy Maier, and Assessor John Bader. As per the agenda, interviews were conducted for the Office of Village Assessor. John Blader departed at 4:18 PM. As Mark Brown of Associated Appraisal Consultants, Inc. was unable to appear in person, a conference call was conducted with Mr. Brown and the meeting attendees between 4:18 PM and 4:41 PM. Upon completion of the conference call, the Board held a discussion to compare the candidates for Office of Village Assessor. Motion made by Sorensen/Rozek to reconvene to open session. Motion carried on a roll call vote with all voting aye.
