Meramec Valley Historical Society Committee Minutes from March 9, 2022 5:30 P.M. Meeting called to order at 5:30 P.M. Roll Call: Jeff Titter Donna Graham Bonnie Post Wayne Winchester Steve Roth Steve Myer Motions to accept minutes from previous committee meeting made by Donna Graham, seconded by Bonnie Post Treasurers Report: Motion to approve by Bonnie Post seconded by Jeff Titter Research Report Assisted the following individuals by Janet Daniels. Paul Konopaki ref: Inks Cemetery Jason Clark ref: Historical questions on home at 319 W. St Louis Street. Assisted the following individuals by Donna Graham Chief Scott Melies ref: Pacific Officer killed in line of duty and a possible, memorial commemorating the officer. Contact made with Roy Cobb ref: Display of Confederate flags from Sterling Price and Civil War. Alderman Report: In lieu of the Liaison report, City Administrator handed out information used at the Administrative Committee meeting and a brief update on the meeting. New Business Motion to approve Mr. Gregg Wolk’s exhibit celebrating Grant’s Trail. This exhibit will be displayed in December 2022 at no charge for the Museum. Motion made by Bonnie Post and seconded by Jeff Titter. Derrick Pryor is under contract as a Consultant to the Museum to insure that the displays are properly displayed and lighting is appropriate. Steve Myers provided an update on the progress of Red Cedar. Most of the outside structural work has been completed. The new director will assist Mr. Myers with setting up the budget for the upcoming year. The budget will include, staffing which may be 1 full time person and 2- ½ time persons. furniture, possibilities for future funding, ideas for a gift shop, and possible grants and donations. Discussion on the video taping of the proposed historical interviews from families who worked and or lived in the area. These may be used as a display in the museum. Jeff Titter asked where the Museum and Genealogy Committee will fit in when the Director is hired. Per City Administrator, Steve Roth, the committee with be there to assist the director as needed and provide guidance on displays and donations much like they currently do. Bonnie Post questioned Administrator Roth regarding the status of the ordinance number, approved by the Board of Aldermen, which established the by-laws of the Meramec Valley Historical Society. Administrator Roth will provide that information at a later date. Jeff Titter requested that a section for miscellaneous be added to future agendas. Motion to adjourn made by Bonnie Post and seconded by Jeff Titter. Adjourned at 6:25 Next meeting set for April 6, 2022 at 5:30 P.M.
