TREE COMMISSION MEETING MINUTES JITNE 19, 2009 . MEMBERS PRESENT: PatSagala, Mary Ann Johnson, Bob Johnson, Priscilla Rulison, Cookie Friedrich, Pat Williams, Sue Verheek MEMBERS ABSENT: None OTI- ERS PRESENT: Jack Garber, Staff Liaison, Kathie Boyle Pat Sagala called meeting to order at 5: 00 p. m. Pat Sagala welcomed Sue Verheek our newest member to the Tree Commission. Motion by C.Friedrich, second by T.Rulison to accept May 4,2009 Minutes and place on file. All in Favor. OLD BUSINESS Cha1k Art Contest will be held on July 2° d, 2009 at Pine & River Street. Registration will begin at 3: 25 p. m. Contest to begin at 4: m. Garber will have barricades in the area to block off 00 p. velucle traffic in the intersection and verify that the sprinklers in the area will be off. Pat W. and Pat S. will go to the U.S.Forestry for donations. Kathie B.will pick up Dairy Queen coupons. Pat S. will ca11 members to remind them to attend the chalk art contest and assist with the contest. Stump removal-Wayne Delia Stump Removal Service will be in on June 15, 2009 to begin grinding stumps throughout the city, approximately 163 stumps are scheduled to be removed. GOOD OF THE ORDER None NEW BUSINESS Tree Planting Program - will place a news article in the local paper in 7une or July explaining how to pwchase a tree in the city right- way. of- Consumer Energy's contractors were cutting down and pruning trees in the city - lots of complaints from residents,some trees look fine but others should have come down completely instead of pruning. Next meeting will be July 2,2009 at 4: 00 p. m. -this will be the "Cha1k Art Contest"at River Pine Street. August meeting will be on August 3,2009 at 5:00 p.m. at City Ha11 in the First Floor Lunch Room. There being no further business, Motion by P. Williams, second by M.Johnson that we adjourn.
