MINUTES OF THE PLANNING COMMISSION MEETING PLANNING COMMISSION/ BOARD OF ZONING APPEALS April 24, 2018 Commissioners Present: Cowman, McLean, Hardwick, Pfefferkorn Commissioners Absent: Wrischnik Others Present: Randi Shannon, Jessica Shay-Howell Item 1: Pledge of Allegiance Item 2: Consideration of minutes from the March 20, 2018 meeting. Chair Cowman called the meeting to order. The first order of business was the consideration of the minutes from the March 20, 2018 meeting. Commissioners McLean and Cowman made a motion to approve the minutes with all Commissioners voting in favor. Item 3: Consideration and vote on a preliminary plat and phasing plan for a 4-lot subdivision at Paola Business Park Parcel 5, Dr. Travis Howard, applicant. City Planner, Randi, presented that this is a request for a new dentist office followed by future development of the remaining lots. Commissioner Pfefferkorn asked for clarification if the approval was just for the preliminary plot or was a site plan included and if there would be a change in zoning. City Planner, Randi, stated it was a preliminary concept with no zoning change. Commissioner Hardwick questioned if there would be a landscaping plan required. City Planner, Randi, stated that a landscaping plan would be required by the commercial development. Commissioner Pfefferkorn asked what the next phase would be after preliminary plot approval. City Planner, Randi, stated that a final plat will be submitted and need approval of the Planning Commission. Commissioner Pfefferkorn asked the Commissioners if they had any further concerns. Commission Hardwick stated that, moving forward, his only concern would be sewer and water. There was no further discussion among Commissioners. Item 4: Community/Economic Development Director Report. Senior apartments are moving quickly. Final inspections completed on the Club House and Buildings 4/5/6/7. The City Council approved the change to the LDO. Paola Planning Commission needs members. Building permits are 30 for the month and 137 for the year. Item 5: Adjournment.
