MINUTES OF THE PLANNING COMMISSION MEETING PLANNING COMMISSION / BOARD OF ZONING APPEALS MAY 21, 2019 Commissioners Present: Cowman, Hardwick, McLean, Scott Commissioners Absent: Pfefferkorn, Pritchard Others Present: Randi Shannon, Jessica Shay-Howell, Doreen Smith, John Smith Item 1: Pledge of Allegiance Item 2: Consideration of minutes from the April 16, 2019 meeting Commissioner Cowman called the meeting to order. The first order of business was the consideration of the minutes from the April 16, 2019 meeting. Commissioners McLean and Hardwick made a motion to approve the minutes with all Commissioners voting in favor with the amendment to change the wording on Item 3 to state: “Commissioners Pritchard and McLean made a motion to approve (with staff recommendations) a variance of Section 3.210 Accessory Use, Residential, Pete Bell applicant with Commissioners Scott, McLean and Pritchard voting in favor and Commissioner Hardwick voting in opposition.” Item 3: Consideration and vote on a replat for Osage Crossing of Paola, Doreen Smith, Applicant. John Smith presented background information of the property located at 307 W Ottawa and explained to Commissioners his reason to replat was due to the location of a proposed home site that could not be built on a property line. City Planner, Randi, also presented background information for the plat request stating that John Smith along with Doreen Smith, applicant, requested a replat of Pinnacle Point and also a replat of Block 57 and part of Block 71 City of Paola. In order to combine the entire tract of land, there are existing alleys and right-of-ways that need to be vacated. A replat of the land will allow the owner to vacate those alleys and right-of-ways all at once, while combing all of properties into one tract of land. Commissioner Scott asked why Osage St would be vacated. John Smith answered it ended into a creek. Commissioner Scott asked City Planner, Randi, if the city approved. City Planner, Randi, answered that staff recommended approval. Commissioners Hardwick and McLean made a motion to approve the replat for Osage Crossing of Paola, Doreen Smith, Applicant.
