CALL TO ORDER
Committee Chairperson Birnie called the meeting to order at 9:01 a.m.
Present: 7 - Mayor Allan Gamble, Council Member Sally Kucher-Johnson, Council
Member Kristina Kowalski, Council Member Phyllis Kobasiuk, Council
Member Natalie Birnie, Council Member Rob Wiedeman and Council
Member Allan Hoefsloot
On behalf of Council, Mayor Gamble acknowledged the passing of the Right
Honourable Brian Mulroney who served as the 18th prime minister of Canada
from 1984-1993.
DEPUTY MAYOR ACKNOWLEDGEMENT
Mayor Gamble, on behalf of Council, acknowledged the Deputy Mayor rotation.
Mayor Gamble offered a sincere thank you to former Deputy Mayor Kobasiuk
for her service during her four month term and welcomed Councillor Birnie to
her term as Parkland County's Deputy Mayor.
TERRITORIAL LAND ACKNOWLEDGEMENT
On behalf of the Committee, Chairperson Birnie offered the following Treaty 6
lands acknowledgement:
We acknowledge that we are on the Lands of Treaty 6 which is the traditional
home of the Cree, Dene, Saulteaux, Blackfoot, Nakota Sioux nations, members
of the Metis nations of Alberta, Inuit and all First Nations sharing this land for
generations. We recognize the long history and contributions of Indigenous
peoples who've cared for this land from time immemorial to the present. We
acknowledge that we are all treaty people bound to one another by the spirit
and intent of treaty as long as the sun shines, the grass grows, and the river
flows.
Committee Member Kowalski and Committee Member Hoefsloot attended the
meeting virtually.

ADOPTION OF AGENDA
A motion was made by Committee Member Mayor Gamble that the March 5,
2024 Governance and Priorities Committee meeting agenda be adopted, as
presented.
The motion carried unanimously.
CELEBRATING SUCCESS
Councillor Kowalski recognized the work of Parkland County's Roads &
Drainage department to clear the snow from Parkland County roads from the
recent snow storm in a safe and efficient manner.

Natasha Stenzel-Bourbeau, a resident of Parkland County, came forward to
share information about Water Recycling specifically related to her
development.

RFD 24-030 Closed Session
Proposed Motion
That the Committee convene in closed session pursuant to Section 197 of the
Municipal Government Act to meet in private to discuss matters protected
from disclosure by Sections 17, 19, 24 and 27 of the Freedom of Information
and Protection of Privacy Act.
A motion was made by Committee Member Kobasiuk that the Committee
convene in closed session at 10:28 a.m. pursuant to Section 197 of the
Municipal Government Act to meet in private to discuss matters protected from
disclosure by Sections 17, 19, 24 and 27 of the Freedom of Information and
Protection of Privacy Act.
The motion carried unanimously.
RECESS
Chairperson Birnie recessed the meeting at 10:29 a.m., and reconvened the
meeting at 10:45 a.m.
