MAYOR’S UPDATE  Today is National Night Out to build and reinforce the relationship between public safety and the residents. Police and other community organizations came together a family-friendly evening with the police department, the Fire Department, and other community organizations. Passaic City Council August 2, 2022 Minutes PUBLIC MEETING OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF PASSAIC  Assembly Speaker Craig Coughlin and Assemblyman Schaer toured the city and discussed future plans for Passaic.  On Main Avenue, the Peruvian Parade celebrated Peruvian Independence with Peruvian communities in Passaic and elected surrounding cities attended by elected officials from surrounding cities.  Through a special application, an additional four million dollars has been approved for the Main Avenue Redevelopment Plan. The chain of approval is U.S. Representative Bill Pascrell, Senator Bob Menendez, Senator Cory Booker, then to the President for signature. Council Member Munk arrived at 7:16 p.m. HEARING OF CITIZENS Council President Schaer opened the public portion of the Meeting with the following statement for the record: In Accordance with the Open Public Meetings Act (N.J.S.A. 10:4-1 et seq.). The Council opens every public meeting for comments of the public. However, in accordance with N.J.S.A. 10:4-12 “nothing in this Act shall be construed to limit the discretion of a public body to permit, prohibit or regulate the active participation at any meeting,” Therefore, the City Council will not entertain any comments from persons who communicate obscene material, make statements which are considered bias intimidation in which any person attempts to intimidate any individual or group because of race, color, religion, handicap, sexual orientation, or ethnicity or makes personally offensive or abusive, defamatory or profane comments, comments intending to harass or speak any offensive or abusive language. The person who makes these statements will relinquish their allotted five minutes for public discussion. CITY OF PASSAIC RESOLUTION NO. 22-07-199 RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING EXTENSION OF CONTRACT FOR PREVENTATIVE MAINTENANCE AND EMERGENCY REPAIR FOR FIRE APPARATUS SERVICES PASSAIC, NJ WHEREAS, on August 3, 2021, the City Council adopted Resolution #21-08-190 (attached)approving a contract with Fire & Safety Services of South Plainfield for Preventative Maintenance and Emergency Repair for Fire Apparatus Services with the City of Passaic for One (1) year with the option to renew for a one (1) two-year term; and WHEREAS, the City of Passaic wishes to exercise its option to extend the contract for an additional two (2) year term with the same terms and conditions as the first year of the contract in a not to exceed amount of $ 50,000.00/year; and WHEREAS, the second-year contract shall commence on August 4, 2022, through August 3, 2024. NOW THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of Passaic that the contract for Preventative Maintenance and Emergency Repair For Fire Apparatus Services shall be extended for an additional two-year term expiring on August 3, 2024. Funds for the subsequent years are contingent upon the approval of the governing body. CITY OF PASSAIC RESOLUTION NO. 22-07-200 RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING THE SUBMISSION OF AN APPLICATION FOR THE NEW JERSEY DIVISION OF CRIMINAL JUSTICE (DCJ)- STATE BODY ARMOR REPLACEMENT 2022 GRANT FUND PROGRAM WHEREAS, the City of Passaic has learned of the availability of funding from the New Jersey Division of Criminal Justice, State Body Armor Replacement Fund Grant Program; and WHEREAS, through the State Body Armor Replacement Fund Program, the NJ DCJ supports the purchase of ballistic-resistant or stab-resistant body armor to replace worn or expired body armor used by municipal or county law enforcement agencies; and WHEREAS, said grants requires no matching funds from the City of Passaic; and WHEREAS, the City of Passaic wishes to submit an application for this grant.
