Powers Law," as amended; to provide for a reforendum; 4 to provide for related matters; to provide effective dates; to provide for automatic repeal 5 under certain circumstances; to repeal conflicting laws; and for other purposes. 6 BE IT ENACTED BY THE GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF GEORGIA: 7 SECTION 1. 8 The City of Peachtree Corners shall be and is authorized to exercise all redevelopment and 9 other powers under Chapter 44 of Title 36 of the O.C.G.A., the "Redevelopment Powers 10 Law," as amended. The intention of this Act is to authorize the City of Peachtree Corners 11 to undertake and carry out community redevelopment, to create tax allocation districts, to 12 issue tax allocation bonds, and to incur other obligations within the meaning of and as fully 13 permitted under the provisions of A1iiclc IX, Section II, Paragraph VII of the Constitution l4 of the State ofGeorgia of 1983, as amended, and to authorize the City of Peachtree Corners 15 to exercise redevelopment powers as folly as the "Redevelopment Powers Law" may now 16 or hereafter permit and not to limit any redeveli)pment powers permitted under the l7 "Redevelopment Powers Law." 18 SECTION 2. 19 Unless prohibited by the federal Voting Rights Act of 1965, as amended, the governing 20 authority of the City of Peachtree Corners may at any time direct the election superintendent 21 of the City of Peachtree Corners to issue the ea!! for a special election as provided in this 22 section for the purpose ofsubmitting this Aet to the electors ofthe City ofPeachtree Corners 23 for approval or rejection. The governing authority of the City of Peachtree Corners shall 24 specify the date the special election is to be held, and the election superintendent shall issue 25 the call for the special election at least 30 but not more than 60 days prior to the date thereof 29 written or printed thereon the words: 30 "( ) YES Shall the Act be approved which authorizes the City of Peachtree Corners 31 to exercise all redevelopment powers granted cities under the 32 ( ) NO 'Redevelopment Powers Law,' as it may be amended from time to time?" 33 All persons desiring to vote for approval of the Act shall vote "Yes," and those persons 34 desiring to vote for rejection ofthe Act shall vote "No." If more than one-half of the votes 35 cast on such question are for approval ofthe Act, then Section I of this Act shall become of 36 full force and effect inunediately. If Section I ofthis Act is not so approved, Section I of 37 this Act shall not become eftective and this Act shall be automatically repealed on the first 38 day ofJanuary immediately following the election date. The expense of such election shall 39 be borne by the City of Peachtree Corners. It shall be the election superintendent's duty to 40 certif)• the result thereof to the Secretary of State. 41 SECTION 3. 42 Except as otherwise provided in Section 2 of this Act, this Act shall become effective upon 43 its approval by the Governor or upon its becoming law without such approval. 44 SECTION 4. 45 All laws and parts of laws in conflict with this Act arc repealed.
