Present: Arts Council Members: Francile Albright, Vice Chair Jessica Solomon, Secretary Lisa Koonce Ruben Rodriguez Emlyn Taveras Kim McGreal, Trustee and Liaison to Arts Council Absent: Lisa Robb, Chair Jeff Watkins No Public Comment Business from Previous Meeting: Committee Reports: ● Communications ○ Importance of having one voice across social media ○ How to manage the CoA Facebook page; assign one person for consistency ○ Roundtable discussion: Social media is currently main source of communication, plus Village email list. How to reach people beyond those mediums? ○ Form a Communications Committee for Instagram, Twitter and CoA website. ○ Arrange meeting between Jessica Solomon (CoA communications liaison), Kim McGreal (Trustee, CoA liaison) and Russell Solomon (Trustee, communications liaison) to discuss general plan and strategies ● Fundraising  ○ Current financial status: spent $2600 on events this summer ■ Juneteenth: spent $1800 ($1500 for artists, $300 for supplies) ■ Concordia events: spent $800 ($400 each for two events) ■ Wine Down on Wolf’s Lane: good proof of concept - plan concert series for next summer. ○ What the CoA needs: mini stage, bandshell, PA system ■ Good pitch for small arts grants ■ Find partnerships/business sponsorships for general operating support or capital grants ○ ArtsWestchester regrant program won’t grant to a unit of local government but will fund partners like the Chamber of Commerce, Art Center or Picture House. ○ Some arts councils become 501(c)3 to raise funds. Lisa Robb believes we should stay as a local government, investing in the arts in the community and its strength is having the government behind the mission. ○ Regrant applications are rolling ■ Francile will follow up with Cristina Chianese of the Chamber of Commerce for partnership ■ Lisa Robb and Jessica Solomon will write grants ● Partnerships and Opportunities: ○ PMHS is having a centennial celebration. CoA has been asked to participate but it is of the consensus that we should decline. ○ Junior League of Pelham is having a free event with the Library tied to the book “The Boy Who Inherited The Wind.” This would be a good fit for CoA partnership. ○ Discussion of what determines the CoA’s involvement in a partnership or sponsorship ■ Free events vs private ticketed events ■ Ticketed events like Toonerville have sponsors and raise funds for Pelham Civics. ■ CoA support vs shout out on social media: where’s the line? ○ New Rochelle Arts Fest weekend of 10/16 ■ CoA to support the trolley ■ Art Center is hosting an event for PMHS alums - how can CoA help? ● Call on Facebook page for artists? ● Lisa Koonce to get info on deadlines and contact Emlyn Taveras to coordinate artists ○ MOU agreements with partners: Wolfs Lane, Highbrook Highline and other entities. Lisa Koonce will coordinate, as she is no longer an Art Center board member and conflict of interest is waived  ● Signage ○ Village of Pelham sign at the train station ■ Two bids are required, only one bid is in ■ Sign passed ARB (Architectural Review Board) review ● Public Access Channel ○ Evaluate equipment necessary for infrastructure ○ Set up a meeting with LMC TV (Larchmont/Mamaroneck) ○ Emlyn interested in the art education component New Business: ● Possible November event, holiday shopping or late winter event ● Set longer agenda for next meeting on future events Meeting adjourned: 8:09PM New Business: None Additions to the Agenda: n/a Adjournment: The meeting was adjourned at approximately 8:20PM.
