CITY OF PELICAN RAPIDS COUNCIL MEETING MINUTES-01-18-02
The City Council of Pelican Rapids met in regular session in a continued meeting from
01-14-02. Council met on Friday, 01-18-02, at 1:00 p.m., in the City Clerk’s Office, City
Hall. Mayor Wayne Runningen, Council Members Paulette Nettestad, Denise
Magnusson and John Waller III were present. City Clerk Richard A. Jenson and Gary
Peterson of the Pelican Rapids Press were also present.
Meeting called to order by Mayor Wayne Runningen.
There were no additions or deletions from the agenda.
Motion by Nettestad, seconded by Magnusson that the City of Pelican Rapids will act as
fiscal agent for the Multicultural Committee’s grant application to Lake Region Arts
Council. Motion passed unanimously.
Motion by Waller, seconded by Magnusson to approve renewal of plumbing licenses to
the following people: Marty Hanson of Pelican Plumbing, Allen Stadum of Stadum
Plumbing, Rodney Hanson of Hanson’s Plumbing & Heating, Glen Nelson of Nelson’s
Plumbing & Heating, Craig Kotte of Kotte’s Plumbing & Heating, Glen Smith of Smith
Appliance Repair, Esser Plumbing & Heating, Jim King of Jim’s Plumbing and Jerome
Toftely of Jerome Toftely Plumbing.
Motion also approves renewal of cigarette licenses to the following: Craig Christianson
of Pelican Super Valu, Jeanne Hovland of Southtown C Store, Cynthia Stotesbery of
Larry’s Supermarket, David Huseby of Park Region Co-op, VFW Gilmore Weiks Post
5252, Rick Loerzel of Holiday Station, Patrick Serquina of Pelican Cash-N-Dash, Karen
M. Reich of Ray J’s Cafe and Douglas Kermit Berg of Bridges Bistro & Bar.
Motion also approves renewal of recreational gaming licenses to following: Gary &
Leah Deschene of GLD Lanes, Janice Stetz of Pelican Tastee Freez, Pearl Schultz of
Sportman’s Recreation, Karen Reich of Ray J’s Café, VFW Gilmore Weiks Post 5252
and Douglas Kermit Berg of Bridges Bistro & Bar. Motion passed unanimously.
Mayor Runningen reported that the Liquor Store Manager Position Interview Committee
has recommended hiring Robert Leslie for the position.
Motion by Nettestad, seconded by Waller to authorize hiring Robert Leslie as Liquor
Store Manager at a salary of $35,360 annually. Motion passed unanimously.
