CITY OF PELICAN RAPIDS COUNCIL MEETING MINUTES – 05-20-03 The City Council of the City of Pelican Rapids met in emergency session in Council Chambers, City Hall, 315 N. Broadway at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday, 05-20-03. Mayor Wayne Runningen, Council Members Denise Magnusson, Ben Woessner and John E. Waller, III. Council Member Dave Gottenborg was absent. Administrative Assistant Richard A. Jenson, Deputy Clerk-Treasurer Glenys Ehlert, Library Director Pam Westby and Rick Gail of the Pelican Rapids Press were also present. Meeting was called to order by Mayor Runningen. He explained the purpose of the meeting and the only issue to be discussed is the cost of paving additional parking lot spaces as part of the library project. Rich Gail of the Pelican Rapids Press told Council that he felt paving the parking lot would continue improvement of the area, enhancing the new library addition, paved street, river park development plans and street and bridge replacement on 1 st St. NW. Mayor Runningen suggested that a written agreement between the City and Pelican Rapids Press would be helpful to show benefit to the city of parking places in exchange for City paying for a portion of the paving. Motion by Woessner, seconded by Waller to pay $1800 for paving costs for the three northerly parking spaces on east side of Pelican Press parking lot in exchange for use of parking spaces for five years. City Administrative Assistant Richard A. Jenson will draft a written statement to this effect. Motion passed unanimously. Meeting adjourned at 4:50 p.m. Glenys Ehlert, CMC Deputy Clerk-Treasurer
