CITY OF PELICAN RAPIDS COUNCIL MEETING MINUTES-11-22-06 The City Council of Pelican Rapids met as required by state statute to canvas votes on Wednesday, 11-22-06, at 7:30 a.m., in Council Chambers, City Hall, 315 N. Broadway. Mayor Wayne Runningen, Council Members Richard Peterson and John E. Waller, III were present. Council Members Ben Woessner and David Gottenborg were absent. Clerk- Treasurer Glenys Ehlert was also present. Meeting called to order by Mayor Runningen. Council reviewed and canvassed the votes for the General Election of 11-7-06 as manually recounted by the recount staff and recount official, Clerk-Treasurer Glenys Ehlert. Recount official Glenys Ehlert said the manual recount was requested by candidate Curt Markgraf and was conducted at his expense. Candidate Markgraf was present at the recount. The manual recount enabled recount staff to determine voter intent regarding four ballots that the precinct counter recorded as over votes. The votes were determined as follows: Curt Markgraf 290 John Waller III 296 Ben Woessner 327 Write-In Votes 22 Number of blank ballots for this office 39 Number of ballots counted for this office 935 Motion by Peterson, seconded by Waller to introduce the following resolution: WHEREAS, a record kept by the recount officials for the recount conducted on 11-20- 06, shows a total of 568 voters and 935 ballots cast for the offices of council member. WHEREAS, the tabulation of votes for the offices of council members show the majority of the votes being cast for Ben Woessner with 327 and John Waller III with 296. Mayor Runningen, Council Members Peterson and Waller voted yes. No one voted no. Motion passed and resolution declared duly adopted. Meeting adjourned. Glenys Ehlert, CMC Clerk-Treasurer
