City of Petersburg Community Development Block Grant Advisory Committee Regular Meeting Notes September 20, 2023 at 6:00 PM Petersburg Public Library – Conference Room 201 W. Washington Street Petersburg, VA 23803 1. Call to order at 6:05 PM 2. The following members were present and a quorum was present. a. Green b. Calvert c. Adih 3. Approval of the Minutes a. June 21, 2023 i. Motion made by Green to approve the minutes as presented, and all were in favor. 4. Report from the Chairman - Mr. Kofi Adih a. Will plan to meet the new CDBG Administrator at the regular meeting in October and have a meet and greet at 5:45 PM. b. Add new CDBG Administrator to the CDBG email list. 5. New Business a. Public Meeting Dates for PY 24 i. Keep the dates as the 3rd Wednesday of the month (October 18th, November 15th, December 20th) 1. Confirm the dates are on the main CDBG page. b. Review of PY 23 Key Events and Date/Build PY 24 Dates i. Kofi to send PY 23 Schedule to Planning Director to confirm the dates worked. ii. Public hearing if needs in January.  c. Community Outreach and Public Engagement i. Share updates with the public on the results. ii. Get the public hearing of needs published 30 days prior. iii. Bring the past subrecipients in again – mandatory for anyone looking to get funding in the next year and request others to come in. d. Report from Past Sub-recipients i. Last year went to visit project homes. Are there any subrecipients that we would like to visit this year? 1. Parks and Recreation project. (progress update) a. Would like to see progress before and after once award letters have been sent and contracts signed, would like to get dates. 2. Would be interested in touring the African American Museum – Request Wayne Crocker to share it with them – Program Year 2022 recipient. (progress update) 3. Neighborhood Services - Demolition – get addresses for the properties that have been demolished and what homes are on the docket for the coming year. (progress update) 4. Hebron and Pretty Purpose. Speak with them in 2024 to share what they have used the funds for. (progress update) e. NCDA Events/Collaboration with Other Cities i. No NCDA events in our region currently. No information on the national conference right now either. ii. CDBG Administrator – Check to see what cities look like ours in terms of structure. Look at attend neighboring City’s meeting. f. Working Group for Standard Operating Procedure Development i. By December have this complete. By the October meeting, have initial ideas and suggestions. 6. Public Comment Period a. Comments from Barb Rudolph – likes the idea of providing pictures on the results of CDBG projects. 7. Announcements a. Next meeting – October 18, 2023 at 6:00 PM 8. Adjournment a. Adjourned at 6:55 PM
