The City of Piedmont met in Special session on Thursday, February 17, 2022, at 6:00 p.m. in the George Fina
Municipal Building Council Chambers. Notice of the meeting was posted as required on Tuesday, February 15,
2022 at 11a.m. in compliance with the Open Meeting Law, 25 O.S., Section 301, et. seq.
1. CALL TO ORDER___________________________________________________________________
Mayor Kurt Mayabb called the meeting to order at 6:00PM
2. ROLL CALL______________________________________________________________
City Clerk Jennifer Smith called roll and a quorum was present
Present: Mayor Kurt Mayabb,
Absent: Councilman Austin Redus,
3. SCHEDULED BUSINESS____________________________________________________________
A. Discussion, consideration and possible action to appoint an acting city manager for an indefinite
period of time, authorizing the Mayor to discuss compensation with the acting city manager and
make a recommendation for compensation at the next regularly scheduled meeting or special
meeting called for that purpose
Mayor Pro Tem Kevan Blasdel made a motion to appoint City Clerk Jennifer Smith as Acting City Manager until the
council gets a city manager. Motion was seconded by Councilman Melissa Ashford.
Vote Was:
AYE: Councilman Kevan Blasdel, Councilman Ron Cardwell, Councilman
Jonathan Hisey, and Councilman Melissa Ashford
NAY: None
Mayor Pro Tem Kevan Blasdel made a motion to allow Mayor Kurt Mayabb to discuss compensation with the acting
city manager and report back to the council at the next city council meeting. Motion was seconded by Councilman Ron
Cardwell.
Vote Was:
AYE: Councilman Kevan Blasdel, Councilman Ron Cardwell, Councilman
Jonathan Hisey, and Councilman Melissa Ashford
NAY: None
B. Discussion, consideration, and possible action to authorize and provide for Mayor Kurt Mayabb,
on behalf of the governing body, to inquire into the conduct of any or all offices, departments, or
agencies of the city, investigate municipal affairs, and report back such findings as deemed
appropriate, as authorized by 11 O.S. 10-106 of the Oklahoma State Statute and other applicable
laws.
Councilman Ron Cardwell made a motion to approve business item b. Motion was seconded by Councilman Jonathan
Hisey.
Vote Was:
AYE: Councilman Kevan Blasdel, Councilman Ron Cardwell, Councilman
Jonathan Hisey, and Councilman Melissa Ashford
NAY: None
4. ADJOURNMENT ______
Mayor Kurt Mayabb adjourned the meeting at 6:05pm

IV. ADJOURNMENT ______
In reviewing and responding to any agenda item, the City Council may, in whole or in part, adopt, approve, conditionally
approve, ratify, deny, defer, amend, strike or continue any agenda item. When more information is needed to act on an
item, the City Council may refer the matter to the City Manager, to the City Attorney, or to a board or commission for
additional study. Items may be deferred or continued indefinitely or to a specific date or stricken from the agenda
entirely.
The Mayor and City Council request that all cell phones and pagers be turned off or set to vibrate. Members of the
audience are requested to step outside the Council Chambers to respond to a page or to conduct a phone conversation.
The Piedmont City Hall is wheelchair accessible. Sign interpretation or other special assistance for disabled attendees
must be requested 48 hours in advance by contacting the City Clerk’s Office at (405) 373 -2621.
