MEETING MINUTES– PARK & RECREATION BOARD George Fina Municipal Building 314 Edmond Road NW Monday, November 14, 2016 6:30 p.m. MEMBERS PRESENT: Chairman Paul Francel, Tamara States, Christen Hannegan and Rebecca Anderson STAFF PRESENT: Secretary Valorie Cumming 1) CALL TO ORDER – Chairman Paul Francel called the Parks and Recreation meeting to order at 6:41pm. 2) ROLL CALL – Chairman Paul Francel called roll. A quorum was present. 3) CONSENT AGENDA – All items on the consent agenda are non-controversial and may be approved by one motion. a. Approval of Minutes for the Park and Recreation meeting on October 10, 2016. b. Approval of Meeting Dates for 2017. Christen Hannegan made a motion to approve item a. Motion was seconded by Rebecca Anderson. The Vote was: AYE: Chairman Paul Francel, Tamara States, Christen Hannegan and Rebecca Anderson NAY: None Tamara States made a motion to approve item b. Motion was seconded by Christen Hannegan. The Vote was: AYE: Chairman Paul Francel, Tamara States, Christen Hannegan and Rebecca Anderson NAY: None 4) CONSIDERATION OF ITEMS REMOVED FROM THE CONSENT AGENDA – None 5) PUBLIC HEARING – Topics to include those items not listed in the agenda. None 6) BUSINESS ITEMS – a) UPDATE ON THE PIEDMONT PARK PROJECT SPLASH PAD. 1 Chairman Paul Francel updated the board on the splash pad -all pieces have been built -waiting on DEQ report to tell us how to dispose of the water b) DISCUSSION FOR 2017 PARK AND RECREATION EVENTS. Tamara States suggested that the board partake in more community events -beach blanket bingo movie night (January 21st) -Christen Hannegan will check into popcorn rental and using the intermediate school as the location -Rebecca Anderson will check on the movie -Park playground build -egg hunt (April 8th) -4th of July Olympic Games -back to school event -Halloween booth -Light Parade at Mayor’s Christmas Tree Lighting -Geocaching -Paul Francel will sit down and talk with Joyce about piggy backing on a few events c) DISCUSSION AND RECOMMENDATION FOR ONE NEW PARK & RECREATION BOARD MEMBER. Tamara States recommended Mandy Reents and the board agreed. -Christin Hannegan will discuss with her and tell her to contact the City 7) NEW BUSINESS – None 8) BOARD MEMBER’S COMMENTS – Christen Hannegan requested that December’s meeting be moved to Tuesday December 13th at 6pm. 9) ADJOURN – Tamara States made a motion to adjourn the Park and Recreation Board meeting at 7:30pm. Motion was seconded by Chairman Paul Francel.
