MINUTES OF THE REGULAR MEETING OF THE MAYOR’S YOUTH ADVISORY COMMITTEE HELD ON THURSDAY, APRIL 13, 2017 IN THE TOWN COUNCIL CHAMBERS LOCATED AT 1360 N. NIELS HANSEN LANE, LAKESIDE, AZ 85929 A. Call to Order: Chairman Keala Bratsch called the meeting to order at 6:53 a.m. Pledge of Allegiance: Chairman Keala Bratsch led the Pledge of Allegiance. Roll Call: The following members were present: Bailee Babbitt Vice-Chairman Keala Bratsch Chairman Natalie Campbell Member Sydney Crain Member Caroline Goode Secretary Josiah Goode Member Deborah James Historian/PR Skyla Rigg Member Daniel West Member Also present: Stephanie Irwin Mayor Matthew Williams Community Services Manager Keith Johnson Town Manager Applicants: Joseph West Nate Campbell Rebeckah James B. Minutes: Chairman Keala Bratsch moved to approve the following minutes: Mayor’s Youth Advisory Committee Regular Meeting March 9, 2017 The motion was seconded by Vice Chairman Bailee Babbitt and was carried with a 9-0 voice vote. C. Old Business: C.1 Discussion Regarding Developing a Student Survey Members reviewed submitted questions for the survey of Blue Ridge High School students. All members approved of the questions, with an addition of a coma to question #8. Mr. Williams will create the online survey and MYAC will distribute flyers. Survey results will be prepared for the May MYAC meeting. C.2 Discussion Regarding Committee Dinner on April 25th, 2017 The dinner will occur at Los Corrales at 6:00 pm. All members plan to attend. D. New Business: D.1 Interview, Discussion and Recommendation to the Town Council of Appointees to the Mayor’s Youth Advisory Committee for FY 2017-2018 The Committee interviewed the three applicants selected by the Subcommittee for application review: Joseph West, Nate Campbell, and Rebeckah James. Chairman Keala Bratsch moved to approve Nate Campbell as an appointee. Sydney Crain seconded the motion and the motion carried unanimously. Natalie Campbell moved to approve Rebeckah James as an appointee. Vice Chairman Bailee Babbitt seconded the motion and the motion carried unanimously. Josiah Goode moved to approve Joseph West as an appointee. Caroline Goode seconded the motion and the motion carried unanimously. All members will be recommended to the Town Council at their meeting on April 20th at 6:00. D.2 Discussion Result of the Town Easter Egg Hunt Event on April 2, 2017: The Easter Egg received a good report from committee members. The committee suggested adding music for next year and agreed that the egg decorating contest was not successful and should be switched out with a better activity in the future. Announcements: The new MYAC members will be presented to the Town Council for appointment on April 20th at 6:00pm Taste of the White Mountains, a fundraiser event by the Blue Ridge Scholarship Foundation will take place on April 29th at 12:00 pm at the White Mountain Country Club. Mayor Irwin requested MYAC volunteers. Anyone interested should notify Mr. Williams. MYAC will have a presentation or the yearly progress and recognize outgoing members on the May 4th Town Council Meeting at 6:00pm. Any suggestions as to the content of the presentation will be sent to Mr. Williams, who will create a powerpoint. On May 13th, the Community Picnic will be at 11:00 am at Mountain Meadow Park. MYAC will run a station with some activity (i.e. sack races) at the event. E. Public Comments: Chairman Keala Bratsch called for public comments. There were no public comments at this time. F.
