MINUTES OF PIPERTON BOARD OF MAYOR AND COMMISSIONER SPECIAL CALLED WORK SESSION September 1, 2020, 4:30 P.M. The Piperton Board of Mayor and Commissioners met in a special called work session on September 1, 2020 at 4:30 p.m. at the Public Works Building. Board members: Mayor Henry Coats, Vice-Mayor Mike Binkley, Commissioner Preston Trotter, Commissioner David Crislip were present along with City Manager Steve Steinbach, Fire Chief Reed Bullock, and City Attorney Gerald Lawson. Commissioner Hugh Davis and City Recorder Beverly Holloway was absent. Agenda item 1. Call to Order Mayor Henry Coats called the work session to order at 4:30 p.m., and established that a quorum was present. City Manager Steve Steinbach stated we are going to discuss the salary scales first so Chief Bullock can be excused and then we will discuss the Pinckney Property. Agenda item 2. Salary Scales – Fire and Public Works Depts. Fire Chief Reed Bullock presented his proposed salary scales to the Board which includes his plans for future growth of a fully staffed department along with a proposed part- time admin assistant. Mr. Steinbach suggested having an objective third party (MTAS) to assess the salary scale and provide a little more objective assessment to staff and the Board. Discussion ensued. Mr. Steinbach presented the Public Works salary scales and gave his recommendations to the Board and discussion ensued. Agenda item 3. Pinckney Property Financing Discussion ensued regarding the Capital Outlay Note versus a cash payment. Agenda item 4. Adjournment Commissioner Preston Trotter moved to adjourn the work session, seconded by Vice-Mayor Binkley.
