Engagement opportunities Notes ● Call to order: 7:08pm ● Katy advised to review February PARAB minutes in May; March minutes reviewed and approved ● Kiwanis Park: John Justice asked for a copy of the previous minutes; Katy will provide. John requested a status of the park expansion. Katy advised of the forthcoming meeting with the Town and Kiwanis. ● Director Report: ○ Capital & Planning Meeting in March ○ Priorities requested are staff and equipment ○ Commissioner meeting April 7 to review budget  2 ○ 131.18 acres with greenways/Parks has a national standard of 9 full time employees to maintain ○ Projects prioritized are Community Center restoration and tennis courts ○ Mayor’s tree initiative: last weekend in April, Scouts are invited to Mary Hayes Park Friday April 29 at 4pm to plant dogwood trees; there will be succession plantings in this park for future plantings. PARAB board members are encouraged to attend. ○ Knight Park bathrooms will be open first of April ○ Soccer netting installation April 15 at Mary Hayes Park ○ October bench donations arrived and installation to begin this week. Sites of installation will be Town Lake (2 benches), and Robeson Creek Greenway (2 benches) ● Lewis Freeman Historical Park: Josh shared community feedback on request for town to install a sign at the park and add a bench. Katy indicated there were items available to install at the park. Josh asked if a sub-committee could be formed. Katy indicated she would create a form with survey questions. No feedback for Katy on collecting quotes on Community Engagement ● Knight Farm Park: Katy indicated the Grand Opening event will be Memorial Day weekend on Wednesday, May 27. Katy suggested an info booth for Park information be set up at the event. ● Other park events: Katy indicated her office gets permit alerts for events at the parks and can publish to PARAB members for participation. Patti indicated the upcoming Juneteenth celebration at the Ag Center may be a good way to display park information to educate the public. ● Q&A: Patti asked if there were shades for the dog park. Katy indicated they are on order and should arrive in a couple of months. ● Meeting adjourned: 7:57pm, Josh motioned to adjourn, Bridgett second
