CITY OF PLACERVILLE RECREATION & PARKS COMMISSION January 17, 2024 MINUTES PRESENT: Recreation & Parks Commission: Michael Potter, Larissa Lujan, Tony Windle, Lynne Spencer, Issac Rubalcava. Recreation & Parks Staff: Terry Zeller, Matt Lishman, Monique Plubell, Lily Palmer Admin. Asst. ABSENT: None GUESTS: None ADOPTION OF AGENDA: Larissa Lujan made a motion to adopt the agenda. Tony Windle seconded the motion. Motion approved unanimously. APPROVAL OF MINUTES: Commissioner Lujan made a motion to adopt the November 15, 2023, minutes. Chair Potter seconded the motion. Motion approved unanimously. PUBLIC COMMENT: Amy Sellars spoke about getting volunteers for the Rise and Shine event that she helps coordinate with the city. The community parks clean-up day will be on April 27th this year. Erin Levinson a student from El Dorado high school brought a proposal for a charitable event called “Camaraderie on Stage”. This project would highlight different on-stage performers throughout areas on or near Main Street where they could perform and raise money for local charities. ACTION ITEMS: Softball League Fee Increase for 2024 Season Mr. Lishman shared with the commissioners that minimum wage was increased by fifty cents to $16/hour on January 1st, and the official’s association increased seven dollars to $40/per umpire per game. Due to these increases staff recommends a $37 increase in the adult softball team registration fees from $550 to $587 per team effective February 1st, 2024. Commissioner Luajn motioned to supports staff’s recommendation of a $37.00 a season increase, and asked staff to come back to the February meeting to discuss going to two seasons or staying with three. Commissioner Rubalcava seconded the motion. Motion approved unanimously. Staff Reports: Recreation for Youth Fund Update (Matt Lishman) Mr. Lishman reported that since the last report there have been five requests in the amount of $335 dollars. There was $350 dollars in donations. The projected fund balance is $11, 905.27. FUTURE AGENDA ITEMS: Michael Potter motioned to adjourn the meeting at 7:37PM.
