CLOSED SESSION Pursuant to the cited authority (all references to the Government Code), the City Council will hold a Closed Session to discuss the following item: Govt. OPEN SESSION CALL TO ORDER ROLL CALL: Acuna, Borelli, Clerici, Thomas, Wilkins ANNOUNCEMENTS TO THE PUBLIC ADOPTION OF AGENDA In keeping with the nature of a Special Council Meeting for the purpose of interviewing Planning Commission candidates and Recreation & Parks Commission candidates, it is recommended that the normal order of the Agenda be set aside. ________________________________________________________________________ Special Meeting of the City Council of March 1, 2017 Page 1 Visit us on “The Web” at www.cityofplacerville.org DISCUSSION/ACTION ITEMS Planning Commission Interviews Four candidates submitted applications by the February 15, 2017 deadline in response to the City’s advertising efforts. All candidates are invited to participate in a group interview so that interaction between candidates and Councilmembers can be promoted. The interviews are conducted in a public interview process with questions posed to each candidate by the City Council and each candidate is given sufficient time to respond to the questions. At the conclusion of the group interviews, each Councilmember will complete a prepared ballot that the City Manager (or his designee) will tabulate and then report the results of the balloting at the public meeting. The two candidates receiving the highest number of votes from at least three (3) Councilmembers shall be appointed. NOTE: There are two full-terms of office available for appointment. Recreation & Parks Commission Interviews Three candidates submitted applications by the February 15, 2017 deadline in response to the City’s advertising efforts. The two candidates receiving the highest number of votes from at least three (3) Councilmembers shall be appointed. NOTE: There are two full-terms of office available for appointment. The Commission interview process guidelines outline a run-off procedure when two or more candidates tie in the initial balloting. The results of each individual Councilmember’s vote will be a matter of public record and will be made available to the public upon request pursuant to the Ralph M. Brown Act and the Public Records Act. The two candidates appointed by the Council will be given the Oath of Office at the conclusion of the balloting. ADJOURNMENT The next Regular Council meeting will be held March 14, 2017: 5:30 P.M. Closed Session; 6:00 P.M. Regular Session.
