PLATTEVILLE COMMON COUNCIL PROCEEDINGS April 21, 2026 The organizational meeting of the Common Council of the City ofPlatteville was called to order by Council President Barbara Daus at 5:30 P.M. in the Council Chambers of the Municipal Building. ROLL CALL Present: Barbara Daus, Kathy Kopp, Lynne Parrott, Steven Badger, Bob Gates, Tony McFall, and Brian Whisenant Excused: none ADMINISTER OATH OF OFFICE City Clerk Craig Stout administered the oath of office to Barbara Daus (District 2 Alderperson) and Kathy Kopp (At-Large Aldei-person). Each will serve a 3-year term. ELECTION OF COUNCIL PRESIDENT Daus requested nominations for Council President. Barbara Daus was nominated. Motion by Badger, second by Parrott, to close the nomination and unanimously elect Barbara Daus as Council President. Motion carried 7-0 on a roll call vote. DESIGNATION OF PRESIDENT PRO TEM Council President Daus designated Kathy Kopp as President Pro Tem. ELECTION OF PLAN COMMISION MEMBER Council President Daus requested nominations for Plan Commission member. Bob Gates was nominated. Motion by Pan-ott, second by Kopp, to close the nomination and unanimously elect Bob Gates to serve as a member of the Plan Commission. Motion carried 7-0 on a roll call vote. DETERMINE COUNCIL SEATING ARRANGEMENTS Seating arrangements are from left to right in the following order: Bob Gates, Steven Badger, Kathy Kopp, Barbara Daus, Brian Whisenant, Lynne Parrott, Tony McFall. ACTION A. Resolution 26-05 - Designation of Official Newspaper - Platteville Journal - Motion by Whisenant, second by Kopp, to designate Platteville Journal as the Official Newspaper. Motion carried 7-0 by a roll call vote. B. Continuation of City Attorney and Special Counsel for Prosecutorial Services - Motion by Kopp, second by Badger to approve continuation of services with Bill Cole of Axley Biynelson for City Attorney and Ben Wood of Wood Law Firm for Special Counsel - Prosecutorial Services. Motion carried 7-0 on a roll call vote. ADJOURNMENT Motion by Badger, second by Whisenant to adjourn. MIotion carried 7-0 on a roll call vote. The meeting was adjourned at 5:40 P.M.
