JOINT CITIES/BANNOCK COUNTY/
SCHOOL DISTRICT NO. 25 MEETING
OCTOBER 23, 2018
AGENDA ITEM NO. 1: The Joint Cities/County/School District meeting was called to order
ROLL CALL at 1:32 p.m. Mayor Brian Blad and Council members Heidi Adamson,
Roger Bray, Rick Cheatum, Jim Johnston, and Linda Leeuwrik were
present. Council member Beena Mannan arrived at 1:40 p.m. The meeting was held at School District No.
25 Administrative Offices, 3115 Poleline Road. Doug Howell, School District Superintendent facilitated
the meeting.
AGENDA ITEM NO. 2: City of Pocatello updates.
City of Pocatello representatives gave an overview of the following topics:
a) Terry First Update – Event went well. Collaboration with Idaho State University and student
volunteers was successful. A lot of good feedback was received regarding the event.
b) Northgate Update and Siphon Road interchange is moving forward.
c) Master Plan for Fire and Police Departments are being reviewed. Mayor Blad wanted to make sure
other government agencies were aware of the review.
AGENDA ITEM NO. 3: School District No. 25 updates.
School District representatives gave an overview of the following topics:
a) Hawthorne Middle School Project – track renovations and improvements to the field and
surrounding area were reviewed.
b) Pocatello High School Project – Looking at the safety of students; improving the experience for
students to learn; and providing ADA access.
c) Festival of Trees Event – This is a major fundraising event for the schools. Seeking volunteers and
groups to decorate trees.
d) Career and Technical Education (CTE) – 37 programs are offered and they are looking at
expanding STEM programs. Having a separate building for the programs is desired.
AGENDA ITEM NO. 4: City of Chubbuck updates.
City of Chubbuck representatives gave an overview of the following topics:
a) Country Acres project - Ribbon cutting is scheduled for October 24, 2018 at 2pm.
b) City surveys - Citizens responded to a survey and it contained good information for the Council to
use for future planning purposes.
c) Growth – Plans for growth was shared. Staff is working effectively to make good things happen.

d) Police Department Building – Looking at creating more space for the Police Department. May
construct a new building for City Hall and move the Police Department into the space previous housed by
City Hall.
e) Siphon Interchange update for Chubbuck side – Siphon Road intersection and development of a
well to meet water needs was reviewed.
Pocatello City Council was excused at 2:50 p.m.
