HISTORIC PRESERVATION COMMISSION 3 -- AGENDA# ------ Minutes February 21, 2018 - 6:00 p.m. City Council Chambers, Municipal Building 911 N. 7th Avenue, Pocatello, ID The meeting began at 6:00 P.M. AGENDA ITEM #1: ROLL CALL PRESENT: Jacquee Alvord, Stephanie Christelow, Latecia Herzog, Meagan Milder, Nick Nielson, Paul Sivitz, and Kelsey Stenersen. STAFF: Aceline McCulla and Terri Neu. AGENDA ITEM #2: WORK SESSION The Commission will enter into a work session to continue planning the HP Conference in April and the headstone cleaning in May. The Commission began the discussion with the HP Conference in April. Neu asked for confirmation on speakers: Nielson: Jerry Myer is confirmed Nick Nielson is confirmed Neu: still needs to ask Pete L’Orange with SHPO to be the keynote speaker. Neu: Randy Dixon is confirmed Christelow: Ellen Ryan is confirmed Jacquee Alvord is confirmed Alvord: stated Brenda Baumgartner would confirm by March 1 Christelow: Kristine Hunt would give a presentation if needed Christelow asked that a confirmation of speakers, titles of talks, and a sentence or two write-up about the speaker be emailed to her by March 1. McCulla will send a reminder email on February 28. Pre-Event jobs: Christelow stated she would create the order of speakers. Christelow will prepare the program Stenersen will prepare the posters (3.5x5 (take home handouts for schools), 8.5x11, and 11x17) Neu reminded the commission that Linda Leeuwrik offered to do publicity for promotional materials once prepared. Sivitz agreed to handle the publicity, prepare a statement, and work with Melissa Lee at ISU, however Katheleen Bloodgood will follow up with Lee regarding publicity. Neu would send the poster to Idahocalendar.com, the Idaho State Historical Society, and Old Town Pocatello to place the poster on their websites and event boards. Headstone cleaning in May Walker monument offered to train a few people to clean the headstones. Alvord recommended that two people from the Commission and maybe the Scout leader be trained and she would be the coordinator. Walker monument would not be able to teach the class until after the water is turned on. Once individuals are trained, the HPC could schedule classes when convenient for HPC members. Walker suggested 10-20 participants per class. Volunteers for learning how to clean headstones: Terri Neu, Megan Milder, and Nick Nielson. Headstone cleaning project coordinator: Jacque Alvord will be the. Walker would redo three plaques and the medallions. Alvord sent paperwork to the Veteran Affairs on the Veterans already. New Knowledge Adventures (NKA) asked Nielson to give a presentation on the Brady Chapel in May. Neu asked that he contact Martin Peace at the cemetery to get approval from him, as this is not an HPC event. Alvord wanted to get a copy Brady’s Proclamation to create Memorial Day in Idaho and put up in the Brady Chapel. Sivitz offered to talk with Ellen Ryan, the archivist at ISU library, to see if she may be able to obtain a copy of Brady’s Proclamation, as she had contacts at the State Archives. McCulla will send the draft minutes from the February meetings to Leeuwrik to update the City Council of upcoming events. With no other business, it was MSC (S. Christelow, J.
