At this time, the general public is invited to address the Community Life Commission concerning any items that are not listed on the agenda, which are not public hearings, or other items under the jurisdiction of the Community Life Commission. Comments from the public of any nonagenda items will be limited to five (5) minutes in accordance with City policy. 2. Any applicant or member of the public wishing to speak on any item that is listed on the agenda is requested to adhere to the following protocol procedures/guidelines: a) Prior to the meeting, or during the meeting prior to an agenda item being discussed, any person wishing to address the Community Life Commission shall complete a speaker card and submit to Staff Liaison. Speaker cards are available in the foyer of the City Council Chambers and from the Minutes Clerk. b) When called upon, the person shall come to the podium, state his /her name and address for the record, and, if speaking for an organization or other group, identify the organization or group represented. Whenever any group of persons wishes to address the Community Life Commission on the same subject matter, the Chairperson may, at his /her discretion, request that the group choose a spokesperson to address the Commission. c) All remarks should be addressed to the Community Life Commission as a whole, and not to individual Commissioners. Questions, if any, should be directed to the presiding Chairperson who will determine whether, or in what manner an answer will be provided. 3. Together the Community Life Commission members, City Staff and public honor Pomona ’s important City meeting values: a) To speak and to listen to everyone with respect and courtesy; to honor fairness and our cherished democratic process. b) To affirm Pomona’s dedication to lead as a Compassionate City. COMMISSIONER COMMUNICATION Reports on conferences, seminars, regional meetings attended by Chair and Commissioners STAFF COMMUNICATION Event Calendar Attachments: Upcoming Events May-June 2019.pdf City of Pomona Page 2 Printed on 5/24/2019 Community Life Commission Special Meeting Agenda May 28, 2019 DISCUSSION 1 Neighborhood Watch Committee- Commissioner Houston The Neighborhood and Watch Committees are being promoted so that the Community Life Commission can partner with the Pomona Crime Prevention and assist the community by helping neighborhoods organize and set up Neighborhood Watch Committees throughout the City of Pomona. 2 Human Trafficking within the City of Pomona- Commissioner Jimenez 3 Outline of goals, strategy and measurement plan- Chair Hutchinson Chair would like to focus on goals, duties and responsibilities and implement the outline of goals the Community Life Commission decides on. ADHOC Committees: 1. Foundation 2. Governance- Community Life Commission Duties and Responsibilities and bylaws. 3. Marketing 4. Projects 4 Video Taping- Commissioner Mundy NEW BUSINESS ADJOURNMENT The next Regular Meeting will be held on June 25, 2019 in the City Council Chambers, 505 S. Garey Avenue Pomona, California.
