Water/Sewer – Robert Aagre, Trustee
All Village Water & Sewer systems are functioning normally. There have been no major breaks in either system
during this past month and that definitely helps keep costs down.
The Binghamton-Johnson City Joint Sewer Treatment Plant continues to make news, unfortunately. Like all of the
14 municipalities using the Vestal treatment plant, the Village is concerned about future rate increases forced
upon us. The current price of the rebuilding of the plant is about $275, million plus additional interest payments of
over $125 million, bringing the total to over $400 million. In documents submitted to the sewage plant board,
sewer rates for the Village as well as other users "could rise between 50% and 90%", according to the Press &
Sun Bulletin.
