Minutes of the Regular Monthly Meeting BOARD OF PARKS AND RECREATION City of Portage, IN January 19th, 2020 5:30 PM VIRTUAL MEETING A&B. Call to Order and Roll Call The regularly scheduled monthly meeting of the Portage Parks and Recreation Board was called to order by Board President Ciesielski at 5:30 PM. This meeting was held virtually by order of the Governor due to Covid-19. Board members Ciesielski, Maletta, Warchus, Lee and Hill were present. Superintendent Wilkie, City Council liaison Gina Giese-Hurst, and Attorney Mindel were also present. C. Board Organization/Election Of Officers–  Member Maletta made a motion to nominate Paul Ciesielski as Board President, with a second from Member Lee. Member Ciesielski accepted the nomination. The motion carried unanimously by roll call.  Member Hill made a motion to nominate Andy Maletta for Vice President, with a second from Member Lee. Member Maletta accepted the nomination. The motion carried unanimously by roll call.  Member Lee made a motion to nominate Carla Warchus for Secretary, with a second from Member Ciesielski. Member Warchus accepted the nomination. The motion carried unanimously by roll call. D. Minutes - The Board proceeded to review the minutes of the Regular Park Board meeting of December 21, 2020. Member Maletta made a motion to accept the minutes as written and submitted. A second was made by Member Warchus. There being no further discussion, the motion carried unanimously by roll call. E. Financial Report - The Board reviewed the financial report for December 2020. Member Maletta made a motion to approve the report, with a second from Member Hill. There being no further discussion, the motion carried unanimously by roll call. F. Vouchers - The Board reviewed the vouchers as listed on the official Register of Accounts Payable Vouchers for December 2020. Member Lee made a motion for the Board to approve and pay the said vouchers, as listed, written, and submitted. A second was made by Member Hill. There being no further discussion, the motion carried unanimously by roll call. G. Contracts - Rental Contracts: Superintendent Wilkie presented the rental register of contracts for December/January. Member Warchus made a motion to approve the contracts as submitted with a second from Member Maletta. Motion passed unanimously through roll call. H. Public Presentation and Correspondence – None. I. Unfinished Business – Offer to Purchase, from the City of Hobart, County Line Road Improvement Project, Land Acquisition/Easement, Prairie Duneland Trail: Attorney Mindel has reviewed and approved this paperwork. Superintendent Wilkie will get together with Park Board President Ciesielski later this week to sign documents. 1 J. New Business - None K. Department Staff Remarks – Superintendent Wilkie provided an update park maintenance and upcoming programs. L. Any other matters and Public Comments – Council Liason Gina Giest-Hurst announced that Margaret Schmidt has received her Gold award for the project she completed at Countryside Park. We congratulate her on an award well-deserved. M. Next Meeting: Tuesday, February 16th, at 5:30 p.m. N. Adjournment There being no further items of business, meeting adjourned at 5:57 p.m..
