CITY OF PORTAGE SANITARY BOARD REGULAR MEETING MARCH 3, 2022 3:00 PM The Meeting was called to order by Mayor Sue Lynch at 3:00 PM. MEMBERS PRESENT: Mayor Sue Lynch and Member Mel Gore. Also present was Clerk-Treasurer Rivas and Attorney Elwood. Pledge of Allegiance. APPROVAL OF MINUTES: Member Gore made a motion to approve the January 6, 2022 , minutes; Mayor Lynch seconded the motion. Mayor Lynch requested input from the Board. Motion passed. 2 yes - 0 nays Member Gore made a motion to approve the February 3, 2022 , minutes; Mayor Lynch seconded the motion. Mayor Lynch requested input from the Board. Motion passed. 2 yes - 0 nays STAFF REPORTS: Superintendent Marshall reported there was an exceedance last month for mercury. It was expected after the heavy rains and the rolling total calculations. The Plant is on a variance due to the exceedance (1.59 – limit is 1.42). The variance requires a mercury education component. Superintendent Komenda reported that there is ongoing repairs to the Dombey lift station. The lift station is located on Route 20 on the east side of the road near Waste Management. Repairs are being contracted due to the depth of the lift station. He further stated maintenance on vac trucks are being done. Sometimes repairs are required after they have been winterized and stored for the season. Mayor Lynch asked Superintendent Komenda to compile a list of Indiana American Water’s water main breaks over the winter. She stated they leave a mess behind and need to clean up after their repairs. UNFINISHED BUSINESS: None. NEW BUSINESS: Member Gore made a motion to approve the quote from GE Marshall; Mayor Lynch seconded the motion. Mayor Lynch requested input from the Board. Motion passed. 2 yes - 0 nays 219 Grant – Approval of Additional Funding Member Gore made a motion to approve the additional funding request in the amount of $66,500.00.; Mayor Lynch seconded the motion. Mayor Lynch requested input from the Board. Motion passed. 2 yes - 0 nays CLAIMS: Member Gore made a motion to approve payment of the claims in the amount of $166,224.57; Mayor Lynch seconded the motion. Mayor Lynch requested input from the Board. Motion passed. 2 yes - 0 nays MAJOR ILLNESS CLAIMS: Member Gore made a motion to approve one (1) MI Claim; Mayor Lynch seconded the motion. Mayor Lynch requested input from the Board. Motion passed. 2 yes - 0 nays OTHER BUSINESS: Mayor Lynch presented the Board with a quote from Lochmueller for an assets study for the sanitary plant in the amount of $47,500.00. Member Gore made a motion to approve the quote; Mayor Lynch seconded the motion.
