In accordance with order of the Office of the Governor issued March 16, 2020, the City Council of the City of
Prairie View. Texas will conduct a telephonic meeting in order to advance the public health goal of limiting
face-to-face meetings (also called “social distancing”) to slow the spread of the Coronavirus (COVID-19).
This City Council Meeting will be held on Monday, July 27, 2020 at 6:00 p.m.
The public may participate in this meeting by dialing in to the following toll-free number
1-877-309-2073_Access Code_964-081-637.
Anyone wishing to offer public comments or speak during a public hearing may do so by notifying the
City Secretary at least two hours prior to the meeting at abynum@prairieviewtexas.gov.
A recording of the telephonic meeting will be made and will be available to the public in accordance with
the Open Meetings Act upon written request.

Public Comments:
Citizens who have signed up with the City Secretary, Allison Bynum at
abynum@prairieviewtexas.gov at least 2 hours before the meeting will be recognized. Comments
will be limited to three (3) minutes. City Council will listen to the comments but cannot discuss or
respond to the comments during the meeting. The matter may be referred to a department head,
Mayor or City Council may direct that the matter be placed on the next regular City Council Agenda.

City Council Reports
Pursuant to Texas Government Code § 551.0415, City Council Members, without having
provided notice, may make reports about items of community interest if no action is taken
and possible action is not discussed regarding the information provided in the report.
"Items of community interest" includes: (1) expressions of thanks, congratulations, or
condolence; (2) information regarding holiday schedules; (3) an honorary or salutary
recognition of a public official, public employee, or other citizen, except that a discussion
regarding a change in the status of a person's public office or public employment is not an
honorary or salutary recognition for purposes of this subdivision; (4) a reminder about an
upcoming event organized or sponsored by the governing body; (5) information regarding a
social, ceremonial, or community event organized or sponsored by an entity other than the
governing body that was attended or is scheduled to be attended by a member of the
governing body or an official or employee of the political subdivision; and (6)
announcements involving an imminent threat to the public health and safety of people in
the political subdivision that has arisen after the posting of the agenda.
Mayor’s Report
$362,000.00 approved by FEMA to repair leaks and mold in city hall, bids
requested on city site and newspaper. Staff relocation approved for
reimbursement.
USDA 3,400 boxes of meat and 1,536 boxes of fruit and vegetables distributed to
community (next July 30, 9am at Campus Edge Apts.)

when the governmental body seeks the advice of its attorney about pending or contemplated litigation; a
settlement offer; or on a matter in which the duty of the attorney to the governmental body under the
Texas Disciplinary Rules of Professional Conduct of the State Bar of Texas clearly conflict with the Open
Meetings Act Legal advice in relation to recent complaints from Prairie View Police Officers
