THURSDAY, APRIL 25, 2019 PARKS AND PUBLIC PROPERTY COMMITTEE MEETING MINUTES
Pursuant to due call and notice thereof, a meeting of the Parks & Public Property Committee was held
Thursday, April 25, 2019 at the Municipal Building, 800 Borner St. Prescott, WI 54021.
Call to order/Roll Call: Alderperson Bailey Ruona called the meeting to order at 5:45 pm. Members
present were Galen Seipel and Rob Daugherty. Also members of the Friends of Freedom Park Board and
Prescott Chamber of Commerce joined the meeting. City Administrator Jayne Brand represented staff.
There were discussions about Freedom Park since the Director and one staff person have left
employment. They want to make sure the center is staffed so it can remain open. The city also has the
concern about any liability. There were discussions of the possibility of the Chamber having their office
at Freedom Park. There were discussions on adding possible signage to Freedom Park. There were
discussions on recruiting additional volunteers for staffing at Freedom Park. There were discussions the
city reviewing the Memo of Understanding between the Friends of Freedom Park and the city. There
are concerns about the amount of maintenance which needs to be done at the Welcome & Heritage
Center building and the possible cost associated with the maintenance and is it feasible for the city to
continue to own the building.
Each group will go back and have their own discussions and keep each other informed of their decisions.
Daugherty/Ruona motion to adjourn passed without a negative voice vote.
