Personnel Committee

CITY OF PRESCOTT, WISCONSIN APRIL 22, 2020 PERSONNEL COMMITTEE Pursuant to due call and notice thereof, a meeting of Personnel Committee was held Wednesday, April 22, 2020, 800 Borner St., Prescott, WI 54021. Call to order/Roll Call: Meeting was called to order by Chair Maureen Otwell. Members present were Dar Hintz and Robert Daugherty. Also present Mayor David Hovel. City Administrator Jayne Brand represented staff. Hintz/Daugherty motion to approve the minutes for March 16, 2019 passed without a negative voice vote. City Administrator Jayne Brand presented a request for hazard pay for Police Officers. The other city staff have been working staggered schedules of being in the office and/or working from home. The Police Officers have been working their 80 hours per period and some are having to work overtime. Officers do have a hazardous job but no one really knows when an Officer is going to come upon someone who is infected with the coronavirus. This is something that no one has been trained for. It was also discussed if officers have enough personal protection equipment. Each officer has one N95 mask. There were discussions if this should be hazard pay or a bonus. It was decided that is should be a bonus. There were discussions on what the amount of the bonus and to let them know this is bonus is due to the coronavirus. It was discussed it could be a $1.00 per hour which would be $160 for the month of April and $160 for the month of May. The city doesn’t want to lose any of our officers. The officers are all well trained and do a very good job for the city. It was suggested the bonus would be $250 per month for April and May. Daugherty/Hintz motion to recommend a $250 bonus for April and May for each officer and the chief due to the coronavirus passed without a negative voice vote.
