CITY OF PRESCOTT, WISCONSIN JULY 8, 2020 PERSONNEL COMMITTEE Pursuant to due call and notice thereof, a meeting of Personnel Committee was held Wednesday, July 8, 2020, 800 Borner St., Prescott, WI 54021. Call to order/Roll Call: Meeting was called to order by Chair Maureen Otwell. Members present were Dar Hintz and Robert Daugherty. Deputy Clerk/Treasurer Beth Lansing, Chief of Police Eric Michaels and City Administrator Jayne Brand represented staff. Hintz/Daugherty motion to approve the minutes for April 22, 2020 passed without a negative voice vote. The personnel committee discussed social media which is used by the city. The city currently has a website and Facebook page for city hall, police department and fire department. The Facebook page is used to communicate with the public. We have found when information is placed on Facebook there is a lot of negative comments. The staff will sometimes respond to the comments but most time they don’t. The city is up for a free redesign of the website page. City staff will work with the website vendor and see how the website can be redesigned. The committee had discussion on possible use of You Tube or Facebook live to be able to add the meetings to the website. Other government website were looked at to find features we feel should be on the website. Staff asked that once the website is up that the Facebook pages for city hall and police department will be shut down. The committee agreed that Facebook pages could be taken down but they want to make sure why it was shut down is communicated to the residents. Staff will be working with the website provider to begin the redesign process. Personnel committee will look at other municipal websites to see what they like about those pages.
