Radford Planning Commission Monday, April 15, 2024 Municipal Building Members Present: Mr. Castleberry Mr. Collier, Vice Chairperson Mr. Cosmato Mr. Gillespie Mr. Gropman Dr. Pearce, Secretary Absent: Mr. Watson, Chairperson Staff/Visitors: Melissa Skelton, City Staff Pam Simpkins, Mont. Co. Liason Mr. Collier called the meeting to order at 5:30 pm in the Radford City Council Chambers at 10 Robertson Street, Radford Virginia. A quorum was present. Approval of Agenda: Mr. Gropman made a motion to approve the agenda, seconded by Mr. Castleberry. Voting Yes: Mr. Castleberry, Mr. Collier, Mr. Cosmato, Mr. Gillespie, Mr. Gropman, Dr. Pearce Voting No: None Abstain: None Approval of Minutes for March 18, 2024: Minutes were recommended for approval by Mr. Gillespie, seconded by Mr. Cosmato. Voting Yes: Mr. Castleberry, Mr. Collier, Mr. Cosmato, Mr. Gillespie, Dr. Pearce Voting No: None Abstain: Mr. Gropman PUBLIC COMMENTS – OLD BUSINESS – SUBJECT: SUP-24-002 - (3080 Little River Dam Road) K&J Properties SUMMARY: K & J Properties submitted an application seeking approval of a Special Use Permit (SUP) for Tax Map # 24-1-8, 3080 Little River Dam Road, Radford VA. The request is to allow construction and operation of a recreational vehicle park on 36 acres including two separate islands involving contractor K&J Properties. The original ownership of the property remains unchanged. Commissioners discussed the length of time allowed for Seasonal stays within the RV Park. Mr. Ford advised that only 30 of the 180 spaces will be designated to those who wish to have seasonal stays. Planning Commission ACTION: Mr. Cosmato made a motion to recommend to Council approval of the resolution; Mr. Castleberry seconded the motion. Mr. Gillespie – left prior to work session Mr. Gropman – shared his excitement for the RV Park Dr. Pearce – left prior to the worksession Mr. Watson – Absent A motion was made by Mr. Castleberry to adjourn the meeting at 7:14 pm, seconded by Mr. Gropman.
