What I am asking I am asking the Beautification Committee to discuss whether the Village should explore the possibility of restoring the beautiful cream city brick building located at 233 Carroll Street becoming part of a broader downtown revitalization initiative. I am not asking the committee or Village to make a decision or financial commitment at this time. Rather, I am asking whether this concept is worthy of further exploration. What it could entail If there is interest, future discussions could include whether there is a role for the Village, the Chamber of Commerce, other community partners, or grant opportunities in preserving and redeveloping the property as a community asset. Any future direction would require additional evaluation, public discussion, and Village Board consideration. Work already completed A substantial amount of preliminary work has already been completed, including researching possible uses, developing redevelopment concepts, obtaining preliminary renovation estimates, and researching grant opportunities. This planning could provide a strong starting point should the Village decide the concept is worth exploring further. My purpose in bringing this forward is to begin a community discussion about whether the property could become a long-term asset that supports the Village’s vision for a vibrant and thriving downtown.
