All yeas Motion passes APPROVAL OF MINUTES Motion by Kaminski, seconded by Weinert, to approve the minutes of the January 13, 2022, regular meeting as presented. CORRESPONDENCE City Council Meeting Minutes of January 3, 2022 Motion by Moore, seconded by Majchrzak, to receive and file correspondence as presented. All yeas Motion passes PUBLIC HEARING None. ITEMS FOR CONSIDERATION B-1. Continued discussion on Section 7.04 (Solar Collectors and Similar Facilities) with Rick Coletti from orange Cell Solar City Planner Jeschke informed the Commission that Rick Coletti, from Orange Cell Solar was present tonight to assist the Planning Commission with discussions on re- writing the City’s solar ordinance. The Commission was presented with the Cooper Township Solar Ordinance (previously mislabeled from the City of Ypsilanti). It was the consensus of the Commission that this ordinance was among the better options that had been provided to the Commission in October 2021. Mr. Coletti informed the Commission that he has worked with several municipalities. He felt the ordinance from Cooper Township would make a good fit for the City. Mr. Coletti informed the Commission that current solar panels were very slim and low profile. He cautioned the City to not create an ordinance that would prohibit some residence from taking advantage of solar. It was important that the City’s building and electrical inspectors were familiar with code concerning solar panels and that they inspect the panels to ensure that everything was done correctly. Mr. Coletti informed the Commission that it was not necessary for the City’s ordinance to place limits on the number of panels that could be installed, because DTE places limits on the number of panels that would be allowed on a residence. Some discussion on whether the City’s ordinance should prohibit placement of panels on vertical wall. Rick Coletti informed the Commission that vertical placement would serve no purpose – the panels need to be placed where they would collect the most sun – which is usually the roof. The City Planner will prepare a draft ordinance for presentation to the Planning Commission at their March meeting. PCM: 02/10/2022 Page 2 of 3  APPROVED 03/10/2022 MISCELLANEOUS MATTERS FROM THE CITY STAFF City Planner Jeschke – There will be a BZA meeting in March. - Informed the Commission that the apartments on Howard Street are gone, the applicant withdrew their request. CHAIRMAN AND COMMISSION MEMBERS Weinert – The Historical Society has received a windmill that it will be refurbishing. Misko – The Wrestling Regionals will be held in Yale on January 16th.
