Minutes of Crime Control and Prevention District Board Meeting The City Council City of Richwood A Crime Control and Prevention District Board Meeting of the City Council of City of Richwood was held Thursday, October 5, 2017, beginning at 6:00 PM in the Richwood City Hall, 1800 N. Brazosport Blvd. Richwood, Texas. CALL TO ORDER The meeting was called to order at 6:00 p.m. ROLL CALL OF COUNCIL MEMBERS Roll call showed the following members present: Brian Allen Justin Gatlin Randy Accord Kat Venegas A quorum was declared. Others present included Oscar “Buster” Primm; Bryan Corb, Police Chief; and Giani Cantu, City Secretary. PUBLIC COMMENTS All public comments will be subject to the following rules: all speakers will be permitted to speak no longer than 3 minutes; all speakers will only be permitted to speak once; speakers cannot defer their 3 minutes to another speaker; the first five individuals who sign up for the public comment section will be permitted to speak There were no public comments. APPROVAL OF MINUTES On motion by Justin Gatlin second by Kat Venegas, with all present members voting “aye” the minutes of June 1, 2017 were approved. DISCUSSION AND ACTION ITEMS Discuss and consider budget amendment in fiscal year 2017-2018 budget to fully fund one of the previously approved Police Officer positions Chief Corb stated that the change to the budget won’t increase dollar wise. However, Richwood only qualified for one officer position through the cops grant. Therefore, he is asking that the part time administrative position be changed to a full time officer. Justin Gatlin stated this was attempted previously and Council rejected it. Chief Corb stated that Council has approved the budget contingent on CCPD approval. Brian Allen asked for the total cost. Chief Corb advised the total salary plus benefits comes to about $54,000.00. At the very least, it will be 2 ½ to 3 months before we hire. On motion by Randy Accord second by Justin Gatlin, with all present members in favor the budget amendment was approved. Chief Corb thanked the committee and invited the commission members to be part of the Police review board to participate in the interview process. FUTURE AGENDA ITEMS Justin Gatlin asked for discussion on sales tax revenue to look for potential revenue falls. ADJOURNMENT On motion by Kat Venegas second by Randy Accord and there being no further business the meeting adjourned at 6:15 pm.
