California Avenue Ridgecrest CA 93555 760-499-5151 Parks, Recreation & Quality of Life Committee Council Chambers Tuesday, November 2, 2021 Regular Meeting MINUTES COMMITTEE MEMBERS Mayor Eric Bruen, Mayor Pro Tem Scott Hayman, Planning Commissioner Vanessa Hayman, Planning Commissioner William Jinkins CALL TO ORDER: Meeting was called to order at 5:35 P.M. ROLL CALL: Present: Eric Bruen, Scott Hayman, William Jinkins Absent: Vanessa Hayman, Staff: Nerissa Wegener Recording Secretary: Nerissa Wegener APPROVAL OF AGENDA: Committee approved the agenda APPROVAL OF MINUTES: Approval of the minutes from the October 5, 2021 meeting was pushed the next meeting because we didn’t have a quorum in the beginning of the meeting as Mr. Bruen called in late. PUBLIC COMMENT OF THE ITEMS NOT ON THE AGENDA: None DISCUSSION AND OTHER ACTION ITEMS: The committee and public discussed the possible project ideas for the for the Clean California grant application. Community feedback was given in response our survey that was put out for project ideas for the grant applications. The Community mentioned they would like to see things like more shade, drinking fountains, trees, completed walking path, playground area near softball fields, and a bathroom close to the softball fields. A discussion took place about the public hearing for the CDBG public hearing that will be on December 1, 2021. The committee talked about feedback that we have received from the community about shade at the skate park and a place for people to sit. Feedback was provided on the movie night and other ways to promote and also receive community feedback for the parks and recreation events. SUPPORT STAFF COMMENTS: Staff provided the committee with an update on ongoing projects and activities that are going on in the Parks and Recreation Department. Mrs. Wegener provided an update on the SPP grant for the pool. She stated that we still haven’t heard anything regarding our application. Mrs. Wegener announced that the Tree lighting will be held on Friday December 3, 2021 at 6:00 pm FUTURE AGENDA ITEMS: Update on SPP Grant Update on Survey for the Clean California Grant NEXT MEETING: Special meeting to be held on December 9, 2021 @ 5:30pm ADJOURNMENT: Meeting was adjourned at 6:45 PM
